The 2A Sectionals are underway and there were a lot of storylines from Wednesday’s opening round matchups. Let’s dive in and take a look at some of the top highlights from Wednesday’s night of hoops.

Bowman Academy Takes Down Andrean

In what was probably the biggest upset of the night in 2A, [player_tooltip player_id="1077014" first="Koron" last="Davis"] and Bowman Academy took down the Sectional favorite, Andrean. Davis went for his second-highest point total this season, scoring 33 in the win. Bowman is now the new favorite to take home the Sectional title, but they face a tough semifinal matchup with Illiana Christian on Friday night. If [player_tooltip player_id="1077014" first="Koron" last="Davis"] continues to play at this level, it is hard to think the Eagles don’t take home this Sectional title.

#3 Central Noble holds off #14 Westview.

In the lone top-15 matchup in 2A, Central Noble held off the hosts, Westview. Central Noble was dominating by 15 early in the fourth quarter, but Westview was able to cut the lead to just 4 with under a minute to go. However, free throws by Central Noble extended the lead and victory at 57-48. [player_tooltip player_id="769682" first="Connor" last="Essegian"] led the Cougars with 24 in the win, and the Warriors were led by Mason Yoder with 26. Central Noble will take on #15 Churubusco on Friday night in a big semifinals matchup.

Frankton Takes Down Monroe Central

[player_tooltip player_id="874214" first="Ayden" last="Brobston"] and Harrison Schwinn each hit the 30-point mark in the victory over Monroe Central. Both of these performances were career highs for these players. Brobston totaled 31 points and 10 rebounds on 12-19 from the floor. Schwinn tallied 30 points and 9 rebounds on 6-12 from downtown. Monroe Central hit a brick wall thanks to these career performances, and even [player_tooltip player_id="870304" first="Jackson" last="Ullom"]’s 28-point performance wasn’t enough for the Bears to advance.
