<p>The 3A state tournament has officially made its way through regionals and into the state tournament semifinals. Let’s dive in and take a look at some of the top highlights from Saturday’s regional action. </p>
<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1077028" first="Joseph" last="Bobilya"] drops 40 points as Guerin Catholic rolls</strong></p>
<p>It was a career-high 40 points for Guerin’s [player_tooltip player_id="1077028" first="Joseph" last="Bobilya"] which also included all 10 of the team’s made 3’s. He scored 14 of the team’s 17 points in the third quarter and was nearly unstoppable after that. Northview did a good job early in the game on Bobilya, even holding him without a point for most of the second quarter. Guerin now has its sights set on a matchup with Silver Creek next weekend. </p>
<p><strong>Silver Creek wins its Regional by a total of just 5 points in two games</strong></p>
<p>In two of the closest matchups in the 3A draw, Silver Creek’s two games were decided by just 5 total points, including a one-point overtime win in the Regional Championship. It was a terrific first round matchup between [player_tooltip player_id="529572" first="Trey" last="Kaufman"] and [player_tooltip player_id="874112" first="Blake" last="Sisley"] for Heritage Hills. Kaufman led all scorers with 21 points while Sisley had 18. Then, a defensive game against Connersville held Silver Creek to just 31 points - 10 lower than any other game this season. However, the Dragons dug in and played one of its best defensive games as well. It came down to one final possession as Connersville had the ball with 24 seconds left with a chance to win it. Silver Creek guard [player_tooltip player_id="769684" first="Branden" last="Northern"] deflected a pass which forced a near halfcourt heave from Connersville which fell short. </p>
<p><strong>No. 1 Hammond falls in overtime in high-scoring showdown </strong></p>
<p>It was another terrific 3A matchup with St. Joseph taking its first Regional Title since 1993. It was a 13-point halftime lead for Hammond, the No. 1 ranked team in 3A arriving on an 18-game winning streak, but St. Joseph’s JR Konieczny ended up willing his team to a win. He scored a game-high 24 points - 14 of which came in the second half - and added 14 rebounds. [player_tooltip player_id="874159" first="Harold" last="Woods"] had 23 points for Hammond but it wasn’t enough as St. Joseph shot 68 percent in the second half and overtime, taking the 79-71 victory. </p>
