With the Wisconsin high school basketball season officially wrapped up, I’ll be reviewing some of the prospects that I was able to watch compete in southeastern Wisconsin. These are seven players who I believe boosted their stock as college prospects the most in the Southern Lakes Conference! Stats via wissports.net

[player_tooltip player_id="1134929" first="Devin" last="Griffin"] (5’11 2022 PG, Westosha Central)- An honorable mention all-conference selection this season as a junior, Devin led the SLC in assists with 4 a game. A true point guard, Devin recognized the weapons he had surrounding him and was able to keep them all involved as Westosha won a conference title. Though not the biggest or most explosive athlete, Devin has a great feel for the game and uses change of pace to work his way into the paint where he is a tough finisher. His ability to draw contact or score over length with a floater saw him average just over 11 ppg while shooting over 50% from the field. Defensively he’s a high effort guy who doubles as a vocal leader for his team. I expect D3s and NAIA schools to be tracking him over the next year.

[player_tooltip player_id="1128637" first="Joey" last="Berezowitz"] (5’10 2021 PG, Burlington)- Joey took home the SLC player of the year award, and also established himself as one of the state’s premier three point shooters, hitting at 42% on over 200 attempts from beyond the arc. He’s a quick point guard with a tight handle who’s capable of getting his shot off the dribble or running off screens without the ball. Joey was not just a scorer, but a floor general capable of facilitating in the P&R or drive-and-dish. He averaged 19.4 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 2.4 steals per game for a Burlington team that played a tough schedule this season.

[player_tooltip player_id="1143632" first="TYSON" last="SKALECKI"] (6’6 2022 SF, Union Grove)- After seeing the occasional varsity minutes as a sophomore, Tyson grew a couple inches and worked on his game to turn himself into a 2nd team all-conference player as a junior. His length on the wing stands out, and with the SLC lacking in size, Tyson was also able to excel around the rim. He was one of the top shooters in the southeast corner of the state, shooting 39% on a high volume of threes this season. Tyson has a high arcing shot that, once he gets into a rhythm, allows him to put up points as a hurry. The shot was always there, but I was impressed by his improvements in taking defenders off the dribble, and the work he put in to improve as an athlete. A nice looking 3-and-D prospect who averaged 15 points and 5.3 rebounds per game as a junior.

Ty McGreevy (6’3 2022 G, Badger)- Even with defenses focused on stopping him, Ty had a strong junior campaign scoring 16.4 ppg and earning 2nd team all-conference honors. A player who’s been playing varsity for three years already, Ty has constantly been improving and is a threat to score at all three levels. His length at either guard spot made him a difficult matchup, as he could get to the rim and finish over size, or pull-up and shooter over guards due to his height advantage. Ty has a nice feel for the game and didn’t force much offensively. Really impressed me when I saw him play against Elkhorn, and he should be in line for a big senior season.

JR Lukenbill (6’3 2023 W, Burlington)- As just a sophomore JR made 2nd team all-conference for the SLC, and was the only 2023 prospect in the conference to earn any recognition on the all conference lists. At roughly 6’3-6’4, JR combines length on the wing with an extremely versatile skillset that will translate to the next level. He can handle the ball and run the offense, attack from the wing, defend multiple spots, and shot 44% on 63 attempts from beyond the arc. JR is a tough player who competes on the glass and provides energy on the defensive end. Finished the season averaging 11.1 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game.

Kevin Sandman (5’10 2021 G, Wilmot)- A senior guard who really took over at times, Kevin put up an impressive 23.8 ppg as he earned 1st team all-conference honors. He really impressed me with his ability to score at multiple levels, rather than just relying on his outside shot. Kevin was really impressive around the basket using a variety of moves leading to finishes, and also had a smooth pull-up game from mid-range. His ability to score from all three levels made him one of the most dangerous offensive players in the conference, and he helped Wilmot finish out their season strong.

Erik Cesarz (6’6 2022 PF, Delavan-Darien)- One of just two juniors to make the 1st team all conference list, Erik was a walking double-double for Delavan-Darien this winter. At 6’6 with a strong frame, Cesarz was an absolute bully in the paint, finishing everything inside and dominating on the glass for a league leading 11.9 rpg. He doesn’t do anything flashy, but rather sticks to what he’s good at, and he’s highly effective turning over either shoulder with simple footwork, and then using excellent body control to finish through contact. High effort post player who put in a monster junior season.
