With the newly updated 2021 rankings coming out this week, let’s jump into some positional breakdowns. Here’s a look at the top Senior combo and shooting guards. We are going to skip over the players in the Top 10 of the class since those players have already been broken down in our Top 10 article.

[player_tooltip player_id="793762" first="Kelly" last="Niece"], Simon Kenton - Kelly has had a fantastic career and should own most of the school records by now. His recruiting was slowed down due to an ACL tear as a Sophomore and Covid in his Junior summer. Niece is a three level scorer who will be a steal wherever he goes next.

[player_tooltip player_id="923006" first="Jevonte" last="Turner"], Knox Central - Turner is a player who has been missed in recruiting because he plays at a school that doesn't get a ton of recognition but Jevonte is a talented player who can really score and is an underrated athlete. If I were a Juco coach looking for a guard, he would be one of my first calls.

[player_tooltip player_id="700979" first="Kole" last="Browne"], Madison Central - Kole has moved way up the rankings in the last two years and looks the part of a scholarship player at the next level. He should be first team all region in the 11th and has a chance to lead Central to Rupp Arena.

[player_tooltip player_id="922996" first="Anthony" last="Woodard"], Logan County - A two sport star whose future is likely on the football field, "Rooster" is a big time athlete with a chance to end his career as one of the best in the 4th region in recent years. Woodard has improved as a shooter this season and is an excellent rebounder at the guard spot.

[player_tooltip player_id="923004" first="Conner" last="Cooper"], Bowling Green - Cooper has had a disappointing Senior season limited by an injury. Conner is an excellent defender who can play on or off the ball but hasn't shot the ball very well this season. He had football offers but has declared he will reclassify to 2022 and plans to pursue football at the next level.

Other Names to Know:

[player_tooltip player_id="1032000" first="Javaughn" last="Smith"], Bardstown - A great shooter who has emerged in the last year or so, Smith has been a large part of a lot of wins at Bardstown.

[player_tooltip player_id="923014" first="Jaz" last="Johnson"], Wolfe County - One of the best players in school history, Jaz can score the ball all over the court and has high academics. Look for him to land at a strong D3 school.

[player_tooltip player_id="923012" first="Connor" last="Robinson"], Clay County - Robinson has had a great high school career and scored a lot of points. He has a high IQ and shown he can be a playmaker.

[player_tooltip player_id="923025" first="Luke" last="Muller"], Highlands - One of the best shooters in the state at 42% from three, Muller has signed with NKU for golf but could have been a scholarship level shooting guard at 6'6.

[player_tooltip player_id="1066761" first="Anthony" last="Bowen"], John Hardin - A transplant from Oklahoma who has only been here for a year or so, Bowen has had a strong Senior season and could end up with several offers before graduation.
