This year, many great players have emerged and they have been able to show their skills and abilities for the entire season. Continue reading for a look at a few top performers from the regular season at the 1A DII level.
James Bodily James Bodily 6'2" | SF North Gem | 2021 State ID , North Gem: North Gem has quietly been building a powerhouse basketball program at the 1A DII level and James is a major reason for their success so far this season. At 6’2″, Bodily has great size for a guard and shoots the ball well from anywhere on the court. He is a solid finisher at the rim and uses both hands while finishing through contact. He can also use his body to draw fouls and he is a knockdown free throw shooter. From deep, Bodily is solid and can connect when left open. On defense, James does an excellent job of keeping his opponent in front and he also rebounds really well from his position.
Covy Kelly Covy Kelly 6'0" | PG Garden Valley | 2021 State ID , Garden Valley: One of the best scorers in the state, Covy has proven that he can hang with anyone and everyone whenever he steps on the court. Kelly has some truly ridiculous stats from his time at Garden Valley including a 54 point performance and countless other games in which he truly showed his offensive dominance. Covy likes to start his scoring using a deadly 3-point jumper and he routinely knocks down 3, 4, or even 5 triples in a game. He is a real threat from downtown and he can also score at the rim, in transition, or using crafty ball handling and leading into a pull up jumper. Covy would make a great guard at the next level.
