With the high school season getting started in some areas and being canceled in others, we will take a look at some of the top available players in the senior class that coaches should get to know. Today, we take a look at some of the top shooters that are still available for all levels.

[player_tooltip player_id="798685" first="AJ" last="Williams"] | 6’1” | Oak Hill

Williams is a guy who has been lighting it up since he was a freshman that helped Varina to a state championship, and after transferring to Oak Hill this season he’s now doing it on a national stage. He’s a little undersized as a two guard but he’s someone who works well off the ball and can square up on the move, and he handles it well enough to get to spots and create enough space to get his shot off. He has deep range, is very confident and doesn’t go through many cold streaks when he gets it going.

[player_tooltip player_id="1091481" first="Elijah" last="Kennedy"] | 6’3” | Green Run

Kennedy is a late bloomer who emerged as an All State player last year on Green Run’s state championship team, and now he’s one of the top scorers and available players in all of VA. He’s off to a hot start for the Stallions who just started their season but are considered a favorite to repeat in Class 5, and his size and athleticism is something that stands out among other guys on this list; The lefty gets good elevation on his shot to shoot over people, he can come off of screens or spot up in transition and he’s a good ball handler too that can attack closeouts and use his athleticism to finish above the rim.

[player_tooltip player_id="798721" first="Grayson" last="Honaker"] | 6’4” | Hargrave

The top scorer in the VHSL the past two years before he transferred to Hargrave to play on the post grad team, Honaker is the definition of a sniper who will almost certainly make you pay for leaving him open from behind the arc. The 6’4” wing broke the state record last year by hitting 17, yes SEVENTEEN, three-pointers in one game, and he moved out of his small town and to Hargrave to show that he can do it against the best of the best and has had a terrific season so far to date. According to his coach, he’s averaging 11.1 points and shooting 45% from three on a team full of division one players, and he has very deep range and a quick trigger that allows him to get shots off with little to no space.

[player_tooltip player_id="957894" first="Kuron" last="Coleman"] | 6’4” | Woodside

Coleman is one of the top three-and-d guys in the 757, and his high IQ and understanding on both ends of the floor is what makes him so effective at what he does. The 6’4” lefty understands how to work off the ball and read screens to make the right read on whether to flair, curl or come off ready to shoot, and his length and instincts on the defensive end makes him valuable there too. He has deep range and good size to get shots off over defenders, and he’s a good athlete as well.

[player_tooltip player_id="798727" first="Promyse" last="Ferguson"] | 6’3” | LC Bird

Ferguson is one of the best pure shooters in the Richmond area, and once he gets it going he can flat out take over a game from behind the arc. In his breakout junior season in which he made over 80 shots from deep and was 44% on the season, he had one game where he hit 7 straight three-pointers to open the game, and with his ability to attack closeouts he is one you have to be careful on when closing out too hard. He’s very consistent and doesn’t go through long cold streaks, and he has good size, a quick release and deep range as well.

[player_tooltip player_id="957904" first="Caleb" last="Furr"] | 6’6” | Highland School

Furr is one of the top available forwards in the NOVA area, and he’s a guy who can both play on the wing and can be a stretch four man when teams go small and he can extend the floor. He has a beautiful looking jumper with good form from the feet up and terrific rotation on his shot, and his size allows him to get to spots and make contested shots from multiple levels. He holds multiple offers from D2 schools and is on the radar of quite a few D1 teams as well.
