What’s on tap for your Friday night and Saturday of Minnesota High School Basketball? Prep Hoops takes a look today!

Appetizer. BOLD at Melrose. Tonight the best early game is the 6pm tip-off between BOLD and Melrose. BOLD’s nearly brand new group of players is still figuring things out. They have lost two one score games and beat Montevideo among their first five contests. [player_tooltip player_id="567070" first="Drew" last="Sagedahl"] is doing everything he can to help BOLD including scoring 34 and 35 points in the last two games. At 6-0 Melrose is the 4th ranked team in Class AA basketball. They just crushed Morris Area which is scary for the Warriors considering Morris beat BOLD by 20. Watching Dutchmen [player_tooltip player_id="774837" first="Grant" last="Moscho"] - who just scored his 1,000th point and was named the local press player of the week - against Sagedahl should be good.

Specials. IMG Academy at Minnehaha Academy. Tomorrow at high noon for the price of 20.99 you can watch nationally ranked IMG Academy and their team full of stars take on the number one team in the state, Minnehaha Academy. Here are the match-ups you will see position by position and remember, [player_tooltip player_id="850724" first="Donovan" last="Smith"] is out with a hand injury:

[player_tooltip player_id="680229" first="Hercy" last="Miller"] (Top five Minnesota 2021 prospect) vs Jaden Bradley (Top 10 2022 prospect nationally)

[player_tooltip player_id="850702" first="Prince" last="Aligbe"] (Top 100 2022 prospect nationally) vs Jett Howard (Top 100 2022 prospect nationally)

[player_tooltip player_id="957130" first="Isaiah" last="Davis"] (Top 20 Minnesota 2021 prospect) vs Eric Dailey Jr (Top 25 2022 prospect nationally)

[player_tooltip player_id="850707" first="Chase" last="Carter"] (Top 15 Minnesota 2022 hoops prospect, top 1-3 Minnesota junior football prospect) vs Jarace Walker (Top 10 2022 prospect nationally)

[player_tooltip player_id="532574" first="Chet" last="Holmgren"] (The Number 1 ranked player in high school basketball) vs Mousaa Diabate (Top 20 2021 prospect nationally)

It’s a load of talent all on one floor at the same time.

Main Course. Tonight there are five very good games being played in different parts of the state this evening (Friday night). Two in the metro, one in the southwest, one in the southeast, one up north.

(#3) Stewartville at (#5) Caledonia - It’s not the [player_tooltip player_id="567035" first="Will" last="Tschetter"] vs [player_tooltip player_id="754315" first="Eli" last="King"] highlight show but Will vs [player_tooltip player_id="957133" first="Sam" last="Privet"] is still pretty good. Top 5 teams.

Perham at Pelican Rapids - Both squads have top ten level Class AA talent but need a big win to get back to where they want to be

Austin at (#7) Mankato East - Winner of the game takes control in the Big Nine standings at the moment, Austin recently lost to Northfield

(#9) Lakeville South at (#5) Eastview - The Cougars are reeling after Shakopee crushed them. They need a good game to night vs 6-0 Eastview

(#3) Richfield at (#2) Columbia Heights - I think this is the game of the night and it’s caught my interest so much I NEED to look at the line-up card

[player_tooltip player_id="774836" first="Lamar" last="Grayson"] (6’0 Sr PG, Richfield) vs [player_tooltip player_id="958742" first="Terrence" last="Brown"] (5’11 Jr PG, Columbia Heights)

[player_tooltip player_id="958679" first="Mitchell" last="January"] (6’4 Sr SG, Richfield) vs Elijah Williams (6’0 Sr Guard, Columbia Heights)

[player_tooltip player_id="774779" first="Ryan" last="Miles"] (6’4 Sr SF, Richfield) vs [player_tooltip player_id="958648" first="Hassan" last="Kamara"] (6’3, Jr Shooting Guard, Columbia Heights)

[player_tooltip player_id="958660" first="Jaden" last="Wollmuth"] (6’6 Jr PF, Richfield) vs [player_tooltip player_id="850729" first="Muja" last="Burton"] (6’4 Jr SF, Columbia Heights)

Isaiah Casey-Hammond (6’7 Sr C, Richfield) vs [player_tooltip player_id="958666" first="Donnavin" last="Hinsz"] (6’6 Jr PF, Columbia Heights)

Should be a great game with a lot of talent on the floor. Richfield will be bigger and has more games as a group but the Hylanders will be the more athletic squad at most spots and they just beat the Islanders.

Dessert. Nicollet at Madelia. Looking for a game Saturday night? Find Madelia and Nicollet, two Class A squads with some really good players. Six-foot-4 junior Ja’Sean Glover is scoring 31 points a game for Madelia who has lost some close games early in the year. In this game keep an eye on another 6-foot-4 junior guard named [player_tooltip player_id="958831" first="Colton" last="Thomsen"]. Colton is averaging 20 points and 12 rebounds a game shooting 60 percent from the floor!
