Sumter HS vs Socastee HS

<p>Region play is coming to a end this coming week here in the Palmetto State. Prep Hoops took in a doubleheader of games here today at the Brave Wave in the Socastee community of Myrtle Beach. The Sumter HS Gamecocks came to town to play the host Braves. The Gamecocks were playing its 5th game in 11 days since returning after a 2 month layoff due to the Covid-19 shutdown. The Gamecocks improved to (7-4) on the season with a 65-57 road win. </p> <p><strong>Bench Production: </strong></p> <p><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2021/02/DB964AE4-8D6E-44EF-AD51-DF30E6D12AC9.jpeg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-1132452" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2021/02/DB964AE4-8D6E-44EF-AD51-DF30E6D12AC9-300x225.jpeg" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a></p> <p>The bench came up big today for Head Coach Bryan Brown and the Sumter HS Gamecocks.<strong> [player_tooltip player_id="930625" first="Joseph" last="Durant"]</strong> came off the bench to score 18 points while point guard <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1088708" first="Caleb" last="Jenkins"]</strong> chipped in with 8 points. The guard duo gave the Gamecocks a much need lift from the back court. Jenkins an Durant really changed the game and gave the Gamecocks that little extra spark to pick up the region road win. </p> <p><strong>Threes Falling: </strong></p> <p>The long range distance of three point shooting was at a high today. Both teams connected on making 7 three pointers in the game. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="837351" first="Nakeem" last="Isaac"]</strong> finished with 15 points for the Sumter HS Gamecocks while dropping 3 shots from behind the arc. McManus finished the game with 11 points while his teammate left-handed senior<strong> [player_tooltip player_id="927557" first="Mike" last="Herrin"]</strong> finished the game with 21 points. Owens was able to hit some short baseline jumpers, post up or attack the cup at times today. Owens was able to manufacture 18 points in the win today with his play.</p> <p><strong>Standings: </strong></p> <p>The Braves look to be out of the postseason race here in the region. The Braves dropped its last home game of the year. The Braves finish on the road at St James HS (Monday) and Conway HS (Wednesday)</p> <p>The Gamecocks will have 3 games this week starting at home on Monday and Wednesday. The Gamecocks host Conway HS (Monday) and St James HS (Wednesday) before finishing up on the road at Carolina Forest HS (Thursday). The Gamecocks have to win all 3 games plus beat Conway HS by 7 points to manufacture a playoff berth. Carolina Forest HS has already clinched the region championship. </p> <p>&nbsp;</p>
