But first, district play matchups which kicked off Friday night with the play-in games in Class A districts 1-3, and culminating with all of the Class A District final matchups taking place on Monday night March 1st. I will preview players to watch across all seven Class A districts. Let’s finally wrap it up with District A7
Reggie Thomas Reggie Thomas 6'0" | SG Omaha Westside | 2022 State NE – 6’0 Junior Guard – Omaha Westside
Thomas is a crafty left-handed guard whose abilities as a point guard has certainly improved throughout the last calendar year of time. Thomas has also displayed an ability to shoot it from the outside, as well as finishing at the rim through contact. Thomas is very vocal on both ends of the floor and is a junkyard dog on the defensive end of the court with a knack for defending the opponent’s best player. He’s a strong finisher and a strong rebounder.
Chandler Meeks Chandler Meeks 6'1" | CG Omaha Westside | 2022 State NE – 6’1 Junior Guard – Omaha Westside
Meeks is a very skilled slashing scorer at the off-guard spot for the Warriors. He plays tough for all 94 feet of the court and all 36 minutes of game time. Meeks is very good at finding his teammates for open shots. Meeks is very strong, and is not afraid of drawing contact on offense. He’ll put his head down and put the ball on the deck every chance he gets.
Ryan Larsen Ryan Larsen 6'2" | SG Millard West | 2021 State NE – 6’2 Senior Guard – Millard West
Larsen is one of the better shooters in the state of Nebraska, and when he gets going on offense the Wildcats are very tough to beat. Larsen has a quick release, and while he’s probably more known as a shooter he’s also a solid slashing finisher as well. Larsen made eight 3 pointers in a game earlier this season, setting a Millard West school record and also solidifying his place as one of the best shooting guards in the state. Some smaller schools in the area should definitely at least take a flyer on him.
Dominic Humm – 6’1 Senior Guard – Millard West
Larsen’s point guard at Millard West is fellow senior Dominic Humm, who is one of the better ball handlers in the state. He’s got a wide variety of dribble moves to help him drive to the basket. He’s also shown flashes of being a solid shooter from beyond the arc. The key for Humm to help Millard West the most is for him to be more aggressive more often.
Mason Strong Mason Strong 5'11" | PG Omaha North | 2022 State NE – 5’10 Junior Guard – Omaha North
Strong has almost single-handedly helped Omaha North not only stay close in but also win some games many would not have picked them to hang around in. The 5’10 junior comes from an incredibly athletic family and he displays that athleticism off the dribble getting to the bucket on offense and as a pesky defender at the other end of the court. Strong is the energizer bunny for the Vikings and his vocal leadership from the guard spot provides the Vikings with some valuable boosts of energy. He’s had multiple 20 point games this year and also has had many games where he’s embraced a facilitator role instead.
