Over the last month we released our latest rankings for the classes of 2021, 2022, and 2023. What if you took those classes and did an overall ranking regardless of class? This is what they would look like! This is our Illinois Top 50 Prospects Regardless of Class!

Today we unveil prospects #6 - #10!

#6 [player_tooltip player_id="925178" first="Kyle" last="Thomas"] (St. Joseph’s – 2022)

Last Year’s Rank: #18

Thomas is a well developed five man that has great strength in his upper body. His athleticism continues to improve and he has really grown into his frame over the last year. Defense is ahead of offense with his elite rim protection ability along with how well he boards. The offense is coming fast and furious with how well he has shot it from mid-range and the fluidity we have seen over the last six months on that end.

#7 [player_tooltip player_id="765148" first="Ahamad" last="Bynum"] (Simeon – 2021)

Last Year’s Rank: #9

This DePaul commit is a straight bucket getter. Bynum knows how to score from all three levels and when he gets hot can absolutely carry a team for stretches. We like to refer to him as the ultimate microwave scorer with how he can rip off 15 points in a couple minute stretch.

#8 [player_tooltip player_id="863583" first="Robbie" last="Avila"] (Oak Forest – 2022)

Last Year’s Rank: #27

Avila is an uber skilled four that can play all over the floor with his skill set. Excellent passer that makes sound decisions with the ball finding others on the move. He can stretch the floor with his shooting and is a fundamentally sound scorer on the block. His ball handling continues to evolve as well.

#9 [player_tooltip player_id="925183" first="Braden" last="Huff"] (Glenbard West – 2022)

Last Year’s Rank: NR

Huff is another highly skilled front court player in the 2022 class. The Glenbard West post is extremely coveted high-major prospect with how well the lefty strokes it from beyond the arc. Ideal pick and pop threat that also brings athleticism around the hoop playing above the rim on both ends.

#10 [player_tooltip player_id="939050" first="Darrin" last="Ames"] (Kenwood – 2023)

Last Year’s Rank: NR

Ames is the state’s top sophomore guard. He is a dynamic playmaker in the mold of many of the previous Fire/Morgan Park guards. Angular lefty is a blur with the ball in his hands going end to end in a split second getting to the rim or setting up others. Has an emerging pull up game as well. Once he gets consistent with that he will be unstoppable.
