The Montverde Academy Invitation Tournament (MAIT) was two weekends of the highest quality basketball you can find. And without a doubt, one of the best teams there was Sunrise Christian Academy, based out of Bel Aire, Kansas. Here are the best players that Kansas put on display at the MAIT.

Chandler is the 10th ranked player in the country for a reason, and he put it on display at the MAIT. Chandler averaged 17 PPG across 5 games, and led the tournament in 3-point percentage with a 59.1% clip on 22 attempts. Chandler is a smart guard who makes the right move almost every play, and is a lights-out shooter. Most notably, Chandler nailed an off-balance shot to send their game against MVA to overtime, where they eventually ended the Eagles’ 47-game win streak with a 66-69 OT win. Chandler is deadly in the open floor and even more deadly in transition, both as a facilitator and distributor.

[player_tooltip player_id="1094569" first="Kendall" last="Brown"], Sunrise Christian Academy, 6’7", Baylor commit

Good lord, [player_tooltip player_id="1094569" first="Kendall" last="Brown"] is a scary sight to see under the basket. The small forward is an elite athlete, and his bounce is second to none in the country. It felt like there was no way to stop Brown when he was in the painted area, which was even more evident by his 67% FG percentage across his team’s 5-1 showing. Brown led SCA with 21 points in the big win over Montverde, and stood out throughout the whole tournament on the defensive end as well. Baylor, already one of the best programs in the country, is getting an athletic stud in Brown, who is definitely prepared to make the step to the next level.

[player_tooltip player_id="1094116" first="Kenny" last="Pohto"], Sunrise Christian Academy, 6’10", Minnesota commit

I really enjoyed watching Pohto throughout the tournament. A mobile big man, Pohto is a scary sight for most defenses. He can extend his jumper to the three-point line, and has a decent feel for scoring down low. He’s a good rebounder, even when sharing the floor with fellow big man Zach Clemence, and is a decent defender. He’s got some work to do on his footwork, but he’s a very good finisher and can be a great collegiate two-way player in the future.
