The games have begun! With the infusion of livestreaming, it feels like I’ve watched a thousand games in just 2 days. I’ll focus our Mid Week Prospect Watch on 2 games in particular - Chelsea vs. Stockbridge and Grand Blanc vs. Bay City Central.

Let’s take a look at some players that stood out in those 2 games.

Chelsea 46, Stockbridge 27

[player_tooltip player_id="1111936" first="Joey" last="Cabana"] (2024, G, Chelsea)

Cabana is an extremely talented young player. The freshman didn’t have stats jump off the page, but it was more than obvious that he’s ready for the varsity level.

Jordan Fansler (2021, F, Chelsea)

Fansler had a terrific all around game. He put up 17 points, scoring from all over the floor. Fansler was very efficient with his offensive game. He also chipped in with a valuable 12 rebounds.

Dominic Guthrie (2021, F, Chelsea)

Guthrie seemed like a big contributor to Chelsea’s stifling D. He played with his hands wide and cut off the passing lanes. Guthrie’s defense led to multiple turnovers.

[player_tooltip player_id="983531" first="Lucas" last="Hanifan"] (2022, G, Chelsea)

Hanifan is going to do damage this season. He’s confident in his jumper and can hit it from mid range and from beyond the arc.

Benjamin Strzyewski (2022, G, Chelsea)

Strzewski did a great job pressuring the basketball and making it tough for Stockbridge to get in any offensive sets. He did a very nice job of running and controlling the feel of the game. He had his footprint all over this game.

Jeremy Pilch (2022, F, Stockbridge)

He had a couple strong takes to the rim and could shed off contact when doing so.

Grand Blanc 90, Bay City Central 34

[player_tooltip player_id="986250" first="Amonte" last="Allen"]-Johnson (2023, G, Grand Blanc)

Allen-Johnson’s quickness on the defensive end is a weapon. He keeps the ball moving on offense, as evident by his spinning no look pass to an open teammate in the lane. Allen-Johnson impressed me with is mid range game as well.

Jacob Carlson (2021, G/F, Grand Blanc)

Carlson was more than solid offensively, racking up 11 points in the game. But it was on the defensive end that I was most impressed. His on ball defense was terrific.

[player_tooltip player_id="814649" first="Josh" last="Rechsteiner"] (2021, G, Grand Blanc)

Reichsteiner is a flat out shooter. One of the best in the state if you ask me. He buried a triple from the corner early in the game. What’s best about him, is he recognizes good looks which will allow him to shoot at a high percentage.

[player_tooltip player_id="787618" first="Ty" last="Rodgers"] (2023, G, Grand Blanc)

What exactly do you say about [player_tooltip player_id="787618" first="Ty" last="Rodgers"]? He’s just that good. Rodgers is thick and strong, but moves like a shooting guard. He’s a fantastic above the rim finisher with the ability to snag a steal, go coast to coast, and slam it home. The best thing about Rodgers is watching a bona fide star cheer his teammates and care more about the result of the game than creating a personal highlight reel.

[player_tooltip player_id="985658" first="RJ" last="Taylor"] (2023, G, Grand Blanc)

Taylor is one of the best floor generals in Michigan. He’s steady and intense with his pressure defense. Taylor was very creative and on the mark with his passes. He showed a nice hesitation move that he got him to the rim for an easy 2.

Demarcus Allen (2021, G, Bay City Central)

Allen did a nice job getting the ball to teammates on the wing, they just weren’t able to attack from there. He had a nice dribble drive that he finished through contact.
