We had a Region 1 showdown in this one. Enderlin is ranked #6 and Central Cass is Ranked #10 in our Power Rankings. The Eagles came into the game with a 12-3 record. The Squirrels came into the game with a 12-2 record.

Halftime Score – Enderlin 30 Central Cass 24

Final Score – Enderlin 75 Central Cass 57

Made 3-pointers – Enderlin 3 Central Cass 6

Enderlin’s height and size were the difference in this one. The Eagles altered shots on defense, grabbed loads of O-boards, and scored at will in the paint. Central Cass played with them in the first half. The Eagles imposed their will upon the Squirrels in the second half and dominated in this Region 1 matchup. Enderlin played a great game and seemed to execute the game plan to perfection.

Here are the top players from tonight’s game:

1. [player_tooltip player_id="787658" first="Joe" last="Hurlburt"] (2022) |6-10 F| Enderlin – 26 pts, 1 triple, 3-4 at the charity stripe, and 23 rebounds. I love the way he passes ahead in transition after he grabs a rebound. This led to multiple baskets tonight. He was altering and blocking shots all night long. Joe is an intimidating force on defense. He is an exceptional rebounder. Joe had an athletic powerful 2-handed slam in transition. He also had a tip-in flush. I was impressed with his passing overall and how he fed the ball inside to his brother. I liked his baseline drive and finish. He does a nice job of following his own shot and putting the ball back for buckets. Joe moves well without the ball and is an aggressive cutter. He had a couple of impressive post-move baskets tonight. Joe showed his athleticism in the game with fluid transition layups. He had a great full-court pass to a teammate for a layup. His lone 3-pointer came for the top of the key. It is easy to see why he is a high-level D1 recruit.

2. [player_tooltip player_id="812220" first="Gus" last="Hurlburt"] (2022) |6-8 F| Enderlin – 24 pts and 8-9 from the line. He had the first four points of the game. I liked how often he was at the line tonight. Gus blocked and altered shots on defense. He did a nice job defensively and shut the paint down on defense. He showed a nice turnaround jump shot from the post tonight. Gus was great rebounding the ball and had an O-board tip-in. He had multiple “And 1’s”. Gus showed his strength tonight when finishing through contact. I was impressed with his ability to finish with his left hand around the rim. He runs the court well and scored multiple times in transition. I was impressed with his footwork. He does not back down from contact. Gus looked like an All-State player and D1 recruit.

3. [player_tooltip player_id="1111886" first="Sam" last="Kobbervig"] (2023) |6-1 G| Central Cass – 18 points, 3 three-pointers, and 1-1 from the line. Every time I watch him play; I like the looks of his jumper more. Sam is a lethal corner 3-point shooter. He showed a nice step-back move tonight. Sam is great in transition. I like how he follows his own shot. He did that and was rewarded with a put-back basket. Sam had a great physical finish where he was fouled, and he made the FT for a 3-point play. I liked his active hands in the press. Sam is one of the best guards in Region 1.

4. [player_tooltip player_id="1050248" first="Carson" last="Bartholomay"] (2023) |6-6 F| Enderlin – 8 points and 6-8 from the charity stripe. All his free-throws came in the 4th quarter and he helped finish off the Squirrels. Like the other big guys for Enderlin Carson was tough on defense with altering shots and keeping the ball out of the lane. He had a highlight reel 2-handed slam-dunk in transition. Carson moves well for a 6’6” sophomore. I was impressed with his clutch free-throw shooting in the 4th. I like his versatility on defense. He can match up with guards or post players.

5. [player_tooltip player_id="1123712" first="Josh" last="Dixon"] (2021) |6-5 F| Central Cass – 13 points, 1 triple, and 2-2 from the line. He showed great effort tonight going up against Enderlin’s size. I like that he never gave up no matter how difficult it may have seemed. He showed his athleticism and anticipatory skills when he intercepted a pass in the press. He was also tough on the O-boards and had a nice put-back basket. He made a wild off-balance shot that belongs on the highlight tape. Josh was fouled on that shot and made the FT after. He showed that he can stretch the floor tonight with a 3-pointer in the 4th.

6. [player_tooltip player_id="731910" first="Max" last="Kobbervig"] (2021) |5-10 G| Central Cass – 11 points with 1 three-pointer. I was impressed with his transition finish early in the game and his hangtime. He had a couple of physical finishes through contact. Max is a nice athlete and great in transition. His one three-pointer came late in the game from the left corner. Max is a solid point guard with excellent ball skills.

7. [player_tooltip player_id="1129974" first="Alijah" last="Dixson"] (2022) |5-11 G| Enderlin – 7 points with 1 triple in the game. He showed great hustle tracking down loose ball offensive rebounds. I think he gets quicker every time I watch him play. He sliced through the press and had a couple of coast to coast finishes. Alijah’s 3-pointer came from the right-wing. He has a quick and smooth looking shot. I like how crisp he throws his passes. Alijah is a huge piece of the puzzle for the Eagles and the straw that stirs the drink.

8. [player_tooltip player_id="1123709" first="Jake" last="Deutsch"] (2022) |5-11 G| Central Cass – 7 points and 3-5 from the line. He showed quick hands when stripping the basketball early in the game. I like his quick spin-move. He showed a nice right-handed finger-roll shot tonight. Jake is an athletic guard that gives maximum effort.
