Prep Hoops Michigan recently updated it’s prospect rankings for the class of 2022. There are some very high level post players in the class. We will take a look at 5 power forwards that can crash the boards and pull down rebounds for their team.

[player_tooltip player_id="983493" first="DeCorian" last="Temple"] (PF, Orchard Lake St. Mary’s)

Prep Hoops Michigan Ranking: #36

Temple can be a difference maker with his rebounding alone. He uses a combination of strength and verticality to dominate the glass. Temple gets off the ground quickly and snags the ball at it’s highest point.

[player_tooltip player_id="863999" first="Nic" last="Stump"] (PF, Grand Haven)

Prep Hoops Michigan Ranking: #88

Stump is really bouncy in the lane. He’s not afraid to keep tipping the ball to keep it alive, eventually grabbing it and securing the board. Stump is very active on the offensive glass, creating second chance opportunities for himself and his team.

[player_tooltip player_id="1068135" first="Nick" last="Ellis"] (PF, Grand Ledge)

Prep Hoops Michigan Ranking: #109

I’ve written a lot about Ellis since this fall, and it looks like he’s going to make that continue. I really like the things he’s doing for Grand Ledge early in the high school season. Ellis is controlling the paint and helping to limit teams to 1 look.

[player_tooltip player_id="983519" first="Michael" last="Calhoun"] (PF, Riverview Gabriel Richard)

Prep Hoops Michigan Ranking: #119

Calhoun is an absolute grinder in the paint. He’s more than willing to battle for position under the rim. Calhoun consistently boxes out when a shot goes up. He has a lot of strength in his legs and he uses it to move his opponent.

[player_tooltip player_id="983517" first="Brandon" last="DeVries"] (PF, Kalamazoo Christian)

Prep Hoops Michigan Ranking: #161

DeVries is the shortest of the power forwards on this list, but don’t let it fool you, he will grab boards with some of the best. He has a nose for the ball and is able to find it off the rim and corral the rebound. DeVries isn’t afraid to get physical in the paint when going after a rebound.
