Top Unsigned 2021 Illinois Wings

<p>Who are the best shooting guards and small forwards still on the board in the 2021 class?  We dive into the best of the best here in our <strong>Top Unsigned 2021 Wings</strong>!</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="821763" first="Jakobi" last="Heady"] (Hillcrest)</strong></p> <p>Current Ranking: #16</p> <p>Heady is a lengthy combo forward that is the top uncommitted wing in the state.  He showed a versatile game at Rock N Ball recently despite not hitting any perimeter shots which is usually one of his strengths.  Fade away out of the post worked well for him.  He handled it in transition getting to the rim.  Threw down several big dunks off lobs.  His athleticism and mobility around the hoop allow him to maneuver the ball around defenders.  Crashed the glass for second chance points.  He was an active defender both inside and out.  Low-major and mid-majors need to invest some time here.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="920943" first="James" last="Dent"] (Springfield Southeast)</strong></p> <p>Current Ranking: #22</p> <p>Dent is a slender built two guard that can flat out fill it up from the perimeter.  One of the better pure shot makers in the class.  Best off the catch, but improved his overall feel during the summer.  Programs that are looking for a knock down shooter this is a great option!</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="821734" first="Jaiden" last="Lee"] (Joliet West)</strong></p> <p>Current Ranking: #24</p> <p>Lee is a rangy two guard that brings athleticism and plus shooting from deep.  He is a sniper from beyond the arc.  Length plays well on the defensive end.  Potential JUCO candidate.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="765176" first="Quani" last="Rudd"] (Mt. Vernon)</strong></p> <p>Current Ranking: #27</p> <p>At 6’6” Rudd has a long and athletic frame.  We saw him most recently at the Thanksgiving Throwdown after no evals during the summer.  He is a good athlete that can put it on the deck and really attacks the offensive glass for put backs.  His activity level was his biggest strength at the event.  Also liked how well he passed it when in the lane.  Made several spectacular dishes including a spinning behind the back dish to Benson for a dunk.  He only hit one jumper in the three games which came on a mid-range pull up.  Was fouled on several drives to the basket.  Like his potential as a wing defender when engaged.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="995971" first="Ethan" last="Roberts"] (Hersey)</strong></p> <p>Current Ranking: #29</p> <p>Big wing that has plus size and is an outstanding perimeter shooting threat.  One of the better three point shooters in the class.  Hits deep threes, contested ones, and drills them off ball screens.  Also does a nice job keeping the defense off balance by putting it on the deck on tough takes to the hoop.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="995969" first="Bennie" last="Slater"] (Springfield)</strong></p> <p>Current Ranking: #30</p> <p>Slater is a point forward from central Illinois have has flown under the radar, but when you look at his junior film he definitely has traits that could help at the low-major level.  Skilled prospect with size and versatility.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="920966" first="Tyler" last="Van Eekeren"] (Benet)</strong></p> <p>Current Ranking: #35</p> <p>TVE is one of the more under recruited prospects in the class.  Tough and skilled wing that checks a lot of boxes.  Got out in transition for quite a few scores being aggressive taking it right at the defense.  Also has the capability to dish off to teammates when the defense collapses on him.  Tough wing defender and is a plus spot up threat from beyond the arc.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="821774" first="Noah" last="Franklin"] (Cobden)</strong></p> <p>Current Ranking: #36</p> <p>This Illinois Bears point-forward has a ton of buzz right now.  He is a prospect we have been high on for a long time.  The 6’7” lefty combines size, strength, and skill.  Franklin is a really dynamic passer that does it with flair.  Can put it on the deck against bigger defenders beating them off the dribble with ease.  Can score on the block as well.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="920952" first="Tommie" last="Williams"] (Belleville West)</strong></p> <p>Current Ranking: #37</p> <p>Williams has been on the radar since his sophomore season when he helped the Maroons win a state title.  He is at his best with the ball in his hands being able to create off the dribble.  Has the chance to develop into a nice defender at the next level.</p>
