Odd schedules abound during tournament week. Non-conference and inter-regional matchups provide competition between some top Kansas teams and individuals.

Here are some of the top performances in the area from Jan. 20:

Cole Mahaffey, junior, Baldwin:

The 6-foot-4 junior broke out with 20 against KC Ward. The Bulldogs finally broke into the win column Wednesday night, and the athletic wide receiver turned hoop star was a big reason way.

Louisburg, #5 in 4A, got another big performance from their big man to defeat Seabury 76-41. The 6-foot-9 forward doesn’t just plant in the paint. He knocked down three 3-pointers en route to 24 points. Margrave is a crafty and versatile big man who can absolutely dominate in the paint on defense.

[player_tooltip player_id="1072932" first="Stavian" last="Jones"], junior, Seabury:

The depleted Seabury program went down to Louisburg, but they can always depend on Jones, who earned second-team 2A as a sophomore. The quick and flashy 5-foot-9 guard tossed in 18 in the losing cause.

[player_tooltip player_id="889475" first="Dawson" last="Zenger"], senior, Rock Creek:

Just another 30-point outing for the 6-foot senior. This time, he did quite a bit of damage from beyond the arc, hitting four triples in the 59-37 rout of Silver Lake. Rock Creek currently sits #8 in 3A.

[player_tooltip player_id="599759" first="Joe" last="Berry"], senior, Washburn Rural:

Berry bounced back from a tough outing Monday against Olathe West, racking up 17 points in a 64-38 romp over Olathe North. The Junior Blues entered the Basehor-Linwood tourney ranked #8 in 6A, due in large part to the work at both ends of the floor of their senior leader.

[player_tooltip player_id="1080168" first="Jack" last="Bachelor"], sophomore, Washburn Rural:

Bachelor bounced back Wednesday in similar fashion to Berry. Held to just 2 points on Monday, Bachelor stepped up with 12 points, including 3-3 from the free throw line. Bachelor provides a skilled and versatile guard/wing to complement the veterans in the Junior Blues lineup.
