Prep Hoops took the drive north to Brunswick County this evening to watch a region matchup between the Bucs vs Trojans. The North Carolina High School just recently started earlier this month in the Hoop State for the public schools. Lets dive into some of the action right here.

Laney HS set the tone early and never looked back in a 80-34 win for the Bucs. Laney HS improves to (4-1) on the season while the Trojans fell in their season opener. Former West Brunswick HS made the return back to West Brunswick HS and walked away a very happy coach this evening.

[player_tooltip player_id="1008883" first="Joseph" last="Bachman"] a power forward for the Bucs was just too much in the paint for the undersized Trojans. Bachman finished the game with 20 points and did all of his damage inside the paint. Bachman is constantly working for position in the paint and always on the move working to receive the ball. Bachman is still growing and really likes to play the game on contact.

[player_tooltip player_id="838073" first="Makoa" last="Surigao"] returned to West Brunswick HS where he played his freshman and sophomore seasons at for the Trojans. Surigao a very heady guard finished the night with 10 points in the lopsided win. Surigao connected a nice pull-up jumper and was always in position to make a play on the defensive end of the floor with his hustle.

[player_tooltip player_id="1076346" first="Josh" last="Helms"] is a new name to monitor down the road from the city of Wilmington. Helms just a freshman came into the contest today averaging 7.3 ppg on the young season. Helms is a very confident guard who looks to score the ball.

The Trojans didn’t have much to go on in this game. The Trojans looked to have a few les notables from the roster a year ago. J.J. Cobb will look to take up a lot of the load this coming season. Tyler Rodriquez seems to be a shooting guard with a really nice stroke from behind the arch when given a look.
