Day 3 of the Florida Get Down was a great way to wrap up an exciting 3 days of basketball action. Here were the guys that stood out across the two regular high school games that were on the docket for January 3rd.

Bishop McLaughlin v. Potter’s House National

[player_tooltip player_id="814898" first="Dillon" last="Mitchell"] - 2022, 6’7”, Bishop McLaughlin

Mitchell is a true forward who can play both positions very well, and he did in this game. Mitchell is a good finisher and great athlete who had many great dunks and athletic bursts. He has a strong left hand and can finish with both hands effectively. Mitchell did show some areas of improvement, mostly being active on the defensive end and his rebounding. With another year of good coaching and work, he can become a great threat on both ends and will be one of the best players in the state.

The Rock v. Oakleaf

[player_tooltip player_id="1055724" first="Ryan" last="Jones"] - 2024, 6’8”, The Rock

Jones is a big forward who can shoot and operate in the post. And as a freshman, his skill set is enough to make me say "my gosh, this kid is going to be scary." Playing against a really solid Oakleaf team, Jones didn’t back down from competition that were on average 5 years older than him. Jones finished the game with 16 points and was the cornerstone for his team’s great effort.

[player_tooltip player_id="869614" first="Jayce" last="Harrison"] - 2021, 5’8”, The Rock

Harrison isn’t the first guy you pay attention to when he steps on the floor. Playing for a superteam like the Rock, Harrison’s 5’8" frame can make him lost in the rotation of players who are 6’4" and up. He can shoot and was a springboard for their offense when they were down. With [player_tooltip player_id="818656" first="Kyle" last="Duke"] going out with a small injury, he became a more than necessary scorer for the team. He finished with 13 points and proved that he is just as much of a problem as anyone on the Rock roster.
