2021 Illinois Wing Stock Risers

<p>Which shooting guard and small forward prospects in the 2021 class have seen their stock rise in recent months?  We look at a few of them here in our <strong>2021 Wing Stock Risers</strong>!</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="995971" first="Ethan" last="Roberts"] (Hersey)</strong></p> <p>Current Ranking: #29<br /> Previous Ranking: #62</p> <p>Roberts broke out at the Details Training workouts.  Physically he definitely looks the part.  At 6’4” he has plus positional size for the shooting guard position.  Liked the overall athleticism he showed throughout the games.  Crisp ball handler that sets his shot up well.  Drilled several deep threes both off the catch and creating on his own.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="652790" first="AJ" last="Smith"] (Metro East Lutheran)</strong></p> <p>Current Ranking: #49<br /> Previous Ranking: #96</p> <p>We really liked the progression he has made over the last year after seeing him in multiple Illinois Bears scrimmages and events across the border.  Big and strong shooting guard that has broad shoulders and a strong frame.  Not overly bulky though as he maintains his athleticism which he showed throwing down a pair of explosive one handed slams.  Smith was effective putting it on the deck with smooth ball handling getting to the rim where he converted with euro steps, off hand finishes, and reverse layups.  Hit a pair of threes including a pull up in transition and one off the catch.  Sound form with elevation and just the slightest hitch at the top.  Defensively he had a couple of swats coming from the weakside.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1049508" first="Matas" last="Deksnys"] (Lockport)</strong></p> <p>Current Ranking: #52<br /> Previous Ranking: #80</p> <p>This long and lanky 6’7” small forward is a big time shooter.  The lefty drills threes at a high rate with a quick and concise release.  Showed that off on film and in games this fall with his perimeter stoke knocking down threes off the catch, pulling up, and would step in off a shot fake for a mid-range pull up.  Constantly moving without the ball setting up threes or moves to the basket for layups off a strong cut.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="921019" first="Damarcies" last="Moore"] (Longwood)</strong></p> <p>Current Ranking: #54<br /> Previous Ranking: #81</p> <p>The broad shouldered small forward has great strength in his upper body.  It was his shooting and fluidity on the perimeter that jumped off the floor to us at Rock N Ball.  He knocked down multiple threes off movement.  Can create his own shot with his smooth handles getting to the cup where he uses power or pulling up from mid-range.  Most impressive play was a strong take with his off hand that he finished for an and-1.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1105717" first="Ben" last="Randall"] (Hersey)</strong></p> <p>Current Ranking: #65<br /> Previous Ranking: NR</p> <p>Randall impressed us with his plus size at 6’6” on the wing with a clean looking shooting stroke from three at Details Training.  Crisp and clean stroke mechanically.  Has some bounce to his game throwing down thunderous jams.  Artistic scorer off the bounce.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1105718" first="Quenten" last="Jones"] (Carlyle)</strong></p> <p>Current Ranking: #86<br /> Previous Ranking: NR</p> <p>Jones was one of the stars of the Cape Holiday Classic.  We came away impressed with what the 6’4” wing brought to the table.  Strong and athletic wing that left his impression on the game with his bounce.  Extremely quick around the hoop including throwing down alley oops, getting on the offensive glass, and taking it to the cup strong off the dribble.  Late in the game he connected on a three.  More of a high level athlete right now, but would be a tremendous JUCO player to develop over his first two years because there is a lot of untapped potential in there for this senior guard.</p>
