There was more action from the Rock N Ball Winter High School League on Friday in Indiana which features tons of the top talent from the Chicago area. Here we dive into the evaluations of players from another game in Rock N Ball: Showtime vs Rockford Ambassadors!

[player_tooltip player_id="939077" first="Javonte" last="Taylor"] (Kenwood – 2023)

Taylor showed why he is the top sophomore in the state in this one. The face up four man had it all working. He played above the rim throwing down alley oops along with dunking in transition. Turns his defense into offense quickly getting steals when defending on the perimeter. Uses his length to pick his opponent and take it the other way. He is a high level shot maker from beyond the arc with his shooting. Drilled an array of them in this game from well behind the line.

[player_tooltip player_id="939052" first="Matas" last="Buzelis"] (Brewster Academy – 2023)

Buzelis is still in the Chicago area, but will be at Brewster Academy for second semester. The former Hinsdale Central 6’8” small forward has so much upside. He is a three level scorer that sealed his man off in the paint, got loose in transition for a huge dunk, and can attack off the bounce. Flies in from the perimeter for offensive rebound put backs. His versatility on the defensive end is very intriguing. Recently scored an offer from Syracuse.

[player_tooltip player_id="939050" first="Darrin" last="Ames"] (Kenwood – 2023)

Ames is one of the top floor generals in the 2023 class. The lefty has the ball on a string. His handles and speed are his biggest assets. Had a phenomenal move where he crossed his man, spin move in the paint, and converted with a scoop shot. Several other slippery takes through traffic. So dynamic as a playmaker with the rock.

[player_tooltip player_id="939069" first="Davius" last="Loury"] (Kenwood – 2023)

Loury is a versatile power forward that brings strength, skill, and athleticism to the table. Hit a very deep three which is an area he has greatly improved. Can also put it on the deck with power. Defensively he alters shots both in the paint and on the perimeter.

[player_tooltip player_id="939035" first="Donaven" last="Younger"] (Bolingbrook – 2023)

Speaking of altering shots that is what Younger did. He only played a little in the second half, but the top 10 sophomore is just oozing with potential. Rim protector that is quick off the floor defending the rim.

[player_tooltip player_id="920947" first="Kimahri" last="Wilson"] (Carmel – 2021)

Wilson is a quick and shifty point guard that scored well off the bounce getting in the lane including runners on the move. He also snuck in for a couple offensive rebound put backs.

[player_tooltip player_id="1049511" first="Antonio" last="Leavy"] (Rockford Jefferson – 2021)

Leavy is a big bodied center at 6’6” that carves out space on the interior sealing off his man for scores. Where he is most effective is gobbling up rebounds at a high rate and then converting them for second chance points.
