Hardwood Stars Earn Gridiron Honors

<p>All across the state of Kansas are kids who excel at more than one sport. At risk of overlooking any of these notable high schoolers, here are a handful of basketball stars who were recognized for their all-state performance on the gridiron recently:</p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="747099" first="Nikko" last="Taylor"], senior, Blue Valley North:</p> <p>An impressive post/wing who is a phenomenal passer for a big man, Taylor earned first team 6A as a lineman.</p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="952433" first="Jordan" last="Brown"], senior, Basehor-Linwood (pictured):</p> <p>One of the top basketball players in the 2021 class excelled on the football field as well. Brown earned first team 4A as an end.</p> <p>Brooks Whaley, senior, Rock Creek:</p> <p>A 5-foot-9 do-everything dynamo for Rock Creek, Whaley averaged 5 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals a game last year. On the football field, he earned first team 3A as an end.</p> <p>Bo Reeves, senior, Rossville:</p> <p>The 6-foot-5 post player makes a fine end on the football field. He earned first team 2A.</p> <p>Torrey Horak, junior, Rossville:</p> <p>Injury kept him from making a bigger name on the court last year. But Horak was dynamite on the football field, early Top 11 honors and first team 2A.</p> <p>Jordan Barnard, senior, Olpe:</p> <p>Averaged 12 points and 4 boards as a junior. Earned first team 1A as an end.</p> <p>Luke Detwiler, senior, Lyndon:</p> <p>Detwiler put up 13.2 points, 4 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game last season. He earned first team 1A in the backfield.</p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="1076407" first="Jace" last="Doerksen"], junior, Inman:</p> <p>The 6-footer earned honorable mention2A in basketball last season. Now this year, he received first team 1A as a back.</p> <p>Miles Kitselman, senior, Lyndon:</p> <p>Kitselman was honorable mention 2A last year, averaging 18 points and 10 rebounds per game. This year, he was a first team 1A lineman.</p> <p>Damon Redeker, junior, Olpe:</p> <p>Honorable mention 1A last season as a sophomore, Redeker put up 12 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists per game. This fall, he earned first team 1A defensive back.</p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="946226" first="Harlan" last="Obioha"], senior, Hoxie:</p> <p>One of the biggest big men in the state, Obioha earned first team 8-Man D1 as a lineman.
