I got a chance to enter the Grind Session Bubble, or Mini Bubble as the case may be. It was a great opportunity to see some of the nation’s top players competing. I arrived on Day 3 so the action had already been going heavy, in this article we give some quick first impressions from the day.

Antwaun Massey 6’8 PF Minnesota Prep - May be one of my top Sleepers. I recently mentioned Quenton Webb in an undersized big article. Playing on the same court as the California junior, Massey shined. His activity alone impacts the game. Massey contested everything and was one of the top rim protectors I saw. The 6’8 forward currently has no offers.

Amahn Decker 6’6 PF Minnesota Prep 2021 - Decker didn’t blow anyone away with his athleticism, yet he managed to score the ball by playing under control and with pace. Decker put up monster numbers in a hard game against Veritas, finishing with 18 and 16.

[player_tooltip player_id="747080" first="Malik" last="Thomas"] 6’3 SG Veritas Prep 2021 - As always I was impressed with Thomas’s frame and shooting. Tonight he also impressed with his PG play and tough shot-making ability. Although more of a shooter, Thomas did most of the heavy lifting when it came to handling the basketball for the Titans. He also hit several timely 3’s to help the TItans get a hard-fought 69-63 victory.

[player_tooltip player_id="611407" first="Simon" last="Wheeler"] 5’10 PG Bella Vista 2021 - Beep, beep. That’s probably what his opponents were thinking as Wheeler was blowing by them. Some players play well fast, others play well slow, Wheeler plays well doing both. His change of pace was dynamic and it was impossible for anyone to stay in front of the IUPUI commit.

[player_tooltip player_id="703805" first="Kiran" last="Oliver"] 6’3 SG Phoenix Prep 2021 (featured image) - Oliver finished with the quietest 20 points game ever. He scored in transition and managed to get several tough buckets in the paint. A ridiculous athlete Oliver mixed in a few spectacular plays with some scrappy buckets en route to finishing with 23 points in a 82 - 74 victory for the fire.

[player_tooltip player_id="1049665" first="Keeshawn" last="Mason"] 6’8 PF Bella Vista 2021 - This kid has some of the largest hands that I’ve seen. He also showed great footwork, with his post moves. Mason played with patience and took his time creating space to finish down low. He finished with 14 in the game.
