Many of the "star" names showed out well in week 1 action across the GHSA games I saw from Nov 20-27, here are some names you might have heard of already or others who you’ll soon be hearing a lot more who put their stamp on things.

Kameryn Fountain, 6-7, Freshman, PF, Washington
[caption id="attachment_1093626" align="alignleft" width="225"] Kameryn Fountain[/caption]
The lefty immediately stood out against Meadowcreek with both his body at a young age as well as movement with and without the ball, was a terror on the glass and showed a nicely polished catch and finish game in close, had the confidence to step out and knock down jumpers in the mid-range as well, on a guard-dominated team will see a lot of chances off drive & dish action.

Tyrek Woods, 5-10, Freshman, PG, Washington

Really upped his game as things went on and the Bulldogs began to creep closer in a tight road loss to Meadowcreek, solid handle and poise against pretty aggressive full-court and half-court trapping, not afraid to get into the paint and finish or dish, played well alongside guard Jacorye Favors (20 impressive points) as he found the 6-4 senior often for quality scoring chances.

[player_tooltip player_id="873090" first="Mansir" last="Williamson"], 6-2, Sophomore, CG, Centennial

Coming off a great summer for Double Trouble where he consistently drew "oohs and aahs" with his explosive combination of scoring and hearty defense, likes to push the pace with the ball in his hands but can be equally effective off the ball, an elite rebounding guard, a likely 1 at the next level shows maturity and does a lot of positive things on the floor which don’t necessarily show up on stat sheet, his 8 fourth-quarter points (two 3s) were huge in the Knights holding off Lambert.

[player_tooltip player_id="1049042" first="Trent" last="Jackson"], 6-0, Junior, PG, Creekview

Jackson too had a very strong summer QB-ing Georgia Legacy to a tremendous grassroots season, very poised with the ball and sees the floor as well as anyone I saw, faced pretty relentless and lengthy defense from Heritage’s big guards but pushed through it particularly in the 2nd half when the Grizz made a few runs, heartily takes on the role as a pass-first PG but can absolutely hurt you from range if backed off, love the IQ and upside as a D2/D3 contributor in the future.

[player_tooltip player_id="820317" first="Kyle" last="Walters"] (above), 6-2, Sophomore, SF, Lovett
[caption id="attachment_1096677" align="alignleft" width="225"] [player_tooltip player_id="820317" first="Kyle" last="Walters"][/caption]
Was immediately impressed with the grit and fight as he took on a seasoned and veteran St. Pius club, plays bigger than 6-2 and hits the glass with a clever authority, plays a smart "Mark Few Gonzaga-esque brand" of ball, excellent defender can stay with 3 positions, terrific shooting range out well past the arc but not wedded to the line as he took it off the bounce and showed confidence pulling up from 15 and in as well, able to get out on the break and displayed solid athleticism finishing at the cup.

Christian Anderson, 5-7, Freshman, PG, Lovett
[caption id="attachment_1093627" align="alignright" width="225"] Christian Anderson[/caption]
Listed at 5-7 but even that is perhaps generous, size was no factor nonetheless as he showed all kinds of confidence in attacking seams in the defense and getting his own offense, a scoring point guard he still showed good vision and didn’t neglect his big wings and forwards, an instinctive defender he faced off with bigger and more mature St. Pius guards but held his own and made his presence known on that end, has the kind of moxie that’s hard to miss and could really become an intriguing breakout as he adds size over the next 3 years.

Andrew Glaze, 6-3, Senior, SG, Cass

Stepping up in his senior season to be a dangerous weapon alongside backcourt mate [player_tooltip player_id="1011339" first="Braxton" last="Benham"], had 5 second-half 3’s against Allatoona and is your prototypical spot-up bomber who will see a lot of looks as Benham breaks down defenses or teams focus in hard on stud Zay Chaney underneath, mature and heady his shooting touch will be a key for the Colonels this season.
