Week 5 of the non-district schedule proved to be a high scoring affair for Central Texas prospects, from elite level recruits to unheralded players, and they are starting to get into a rhythm with district play quickly approaching.

In our weekly CenTex Roundup series, we highlight some of the top scorers from the Austin-San Antonio Metroplex who impressed during that given week of the season. Today’s article features three state-ranked recruits in the 2021 class, as well as two Austin-area guards who lit up opponents from beyond-the-arc.

Here are the top five scorers from Week 5:

[player_tooltip player_id="773413" first="KJ" last="Adams"] | PF | Westlake (2021)

In a matchup of two of the top-ranked teams in Central Texas, Adams dropped the hammer with a 39 point performance in Westlake’s 59-55 win over Antonian Prep. The Kansas commit continues to show why he is a top-five player in Texas and is simply unstoppable in the paint and around the rim. Adams has great strength and body control, and combine that with a soft touch at the basket, it is a recipe for consistent scoring success as opponents struggle to slow him down.

[player_tooltip player_id="1027631" first="Kaden" last="Smart"] | PG | Hutto (2022)

Smart is enjoying a breakout junior season for Hutto and he had his top performance of the season dropping 36 points in a win over Lake Travis. Smart couldn't miss from three-point range in the contest as he knocked down 9 threes against the Cavaliers. Smart was lethal as a catch-and-shoot weapon for the Hippos, hitting shots from both wing spots and the corner.

[player_tooltip player_id="1027620" first="Braedyn" last="Dawes"] | SG | Vista Ridge (2021)

One of the top-scoring shooting guards in Austin for the 2021 class, Dawes continues to impress as a consistent scoring option for Vista Ridge and last week's performance was no different as he dropped 30 points versus Austin High. Even with Dawes struggling from deep-range in the game, he found ways to put up points including going 7-of-9 from the free-throw line and converting on several fast-break opportunities.

[player_tooltip player_id="779898" first="Ja’Sean" last="Jackson"] | PG | Wagner (2021)

The UT-Rio Grande Valley commit is starting to heat up during his senior campaign as he had his top scoring performance of the season with 30 points versus Waxahachie last week. Jackson shot 50% from the field in the game and hit a couple of shots from beyond-the-arc. The 6'1" point guard is showing why he is a top-ranked prospect in Texas being a three-level scorer with his versatile scoring ability and a nice jump shot.

Robbie Marshall | SG | Leander Glenn (2021)

Marshall made a name for himself last week with his impressive 27 points versus Vandegrift where he earned all of his points from three-point territory. The senior shooting guard excels as a spot-up shooter and he was on fire from beyond-the-arc as he hit 9 threes against the Vipers. Marshall's shooting ability stretches the floor for the Grizzlies, and when he gets into a rhythm he can be a difference-maker for their offense.
