Players of Note:
Marcus Shakeer Marcus Shakeer 6'3" | SG Omaha Benson | 2021 State NE – SG Senior 6’3 165lbs Omaha Benson Magnet High School
Shakeer (#1 pictured) paced the Bunnies with a game high 34 points. The currently 22nd ranked senior on the Prep Hoops Nebraska rankings almost outscored Northwest himself the first half, scoring 19 to the Huskies 21 at intermission. Marcus scored the ball on all three levels with 3 made 3pt shots, eurosteps into finishes in the paint, and demonstrated his athleticism with both one and two handed dunks. The senior has interest from both four year (NCAA D1 and D2) and juco programs currently; and certainly is a college level talent.
Car’Dae Daniels – PG Senior 6’1 150lbs Omaha Benson Magnet High School
Daniels (#5 pictured) was just as impressive as his backcourt counterpart this day. The senior point guard cut through the Northwest full-court press; scoring 19 points, and leading the team in both assists (7) and rebounds (7). Car’Dae used his strong frame to finish with contact, showed a soft mid-range touch, and played with tremendous pace. Daniels is getting interest from mostly NCAA D2 programs, and with his strength and feel will be on a college roster next fall.
Landon Broer Landon Broer 6'2" | CG Omaha Northwest | 2021 State NE – SG Senior 160lbs Omaha Northwest High School
Broer was the most consistent performer for the Huskies. The senior shooting guard showed a very good feel for the game. Landon was able to shoot with range but also get defenders up in the air and pass by them into a solid float game shot. Broer led the Huskies in both points (15) and in assists (4) for Northwest.
With the win, Benson moves on to play the defending 2020 Nebraska State Champion (2 seed) Bellevue West High School Tuesday (12/22) evening. Tip time between the Thunderbirds and Bunnies is slated for 5:00pm from Bellevue West High School.
