Senior Sunday: Recruiting Updates

We are almost to National Signing Day! That will be this upcoming Wednesday and we will have tons of coverage. In our last Senior Sunday before the early signing period PHI gives you the latest when it comes to commitments and will uncommitted prospects with D1/D2 offers make a decision to sign this week.   Commitments [player_tooltip player_id="652746" first="Luke" last="Braman"] (Roanoke Benson) The five man from central Illinois made his commitment on Tuesday to Olivet Nazarene. Braman is a classic back to the basket center that scores with fundamentals, runs the floor hard, and rebounds in his area. One of the top small college gets to this point in the state.   [player_tooltip player_id="995986" first="Tai" last="Walters"] (Homewood Flossmoor) The left handed combo guard had a strong showing with Team RWA on the Prep Hoops Circuit this summer. He drained threes at a solid clip and even played on the ball some in spurts. His travel team coach Walt Fisher secured his commitment at his college job where he coaches at Govenors State.   Sign Early? [player_tooltip player_id="920940" first="Anthony" last="Sayles"] (Niles Notre Dame) The top uncommitted prospect heading into the week is this Niles Notre Dame lead guard. He landed an offer from Toledo back in October. Where do things stand? “I will not be signing during the early signing period.”   [player_tooltip player_id="821763" first="Jakobi" last="Heady"] (Hillcrest) Heady is the top uncommitted wing prospect in the state. Long and lanky small forward with athleticism and skill. He holds offers from Chicago State and D2 Lemoyne-Owen. When asked about his status for signing this week he told PHI, "I think I’m going to wait and see what else I get."   [player_tooltip player_id="765176" first="Quani" last="Rudd"] (Mt. Vernon) Rudd is the top prospect in southern Illinois in the 2021 class. In the late summer/early fall of 2019 Rudd landed his only two D1 offers from SEMO and SIU-Edwardsville. Is there a chance he signs early? “I have been considering it, but not sure yet.”   [player_tooltip player_id="652731" first="Ola" last="Ajiboye"] (Evanston) The long and lanky post is an elite shot blocker and has skill on the offensive end. Fairleigh Dickinson has offered and is making him a priority. Other schools to offer throughout the process include Chicago State, UIC, St. Louis, Arkansas-Little Rock, Detroit, North Carolina A&T, and Marist. On whether he will sign early he says he is not sure and the recruiting process has been confusing at the end which is very understandable due to the virus.   [player_tooltip player_id="821774" first="Noah" last="Franklin"] (Cobden) Franklin is a point-forward that is a high level passer, sound shooter, and bouncy athlete. He landed an offer from IUPUI recently. Also holds offers from Army, Quincy, Pittsburg State, Truman, and McKendree. We caught up with him to see if he will sign early. “Not as of right now.”   [player_tooltip player_id="995970" first="Jack" last="Mielke"] (Downers Grove North) Mielke is one of the most coveted D2 prospects in the state. He has gone on a number of visits and the floor spacing sharp shooter gave us an update on where things stand heading into Wednesday. “I’ve still got a couple of visits getting lined up so I will probably not be signing during the early period.”   [player_tooltip player_id="920952" first="Tommie" last="Williams"] (Belleville West) Williams is a two way wing from Belleville West who recently scored a D2 offer from Quinicy. Could he sign early? “No I am going to wait until next spring.”   [player_tooltip player_id="920956" first="Luke" last="Moustakas"] (Brother Rice) Another coveted D2 prospect is this face up four man. He has offers from Northern Michigan, Lewis, Wayne State, Wisconsin-Parkside, and Northwest Missouri State. What is his status on signing this week? “I don’t know at the moment. A lot of my visits have been cancelled because of COVID. I’m trying to reschedule visits right now.”   [player_tooltip player_id="995971" first="Ethan" last="Roberts"] (Hersey) This skilled two guard has raised his stock with a strong showing at the Details Training fall workouts. He landed an offer from Southern Indiana on Tuesday. He has had a Zoom call with Westpoint. When asked if he would consider signing early he said “No sir I am not. Unless the right offer comes.”   [player_tooltip player_id="920957" first="Brandon" last="Hall"] (Thornton) While there are a lot of prospects that look like they are going to be holding off making a call it sounds like this jumbo combo could come off the board. Hall holds offers from East Tennessee State and Southern Utah. According to a source it sounds like there is a real chance that Hall will commit and sign during the early period.
