While we’re certainly taking things one day at a time, the prospects of high school basketball occurring in the DMV this winter are more promising now than they have been in quite a while. In anticipation of this, we will be rolling out preview content over the next several weeks. Here is a look at the Preseason All-Senior Teams for Maryland Private Schools.

First Team

G - [player_tooltip player_id="531258" first="Jalen" last="Miller"]

Miller was one of the first names that came to mind when thinking of this list. He’s rugged and battle-tested.

G - [player_tooltip player_id="775314" first="Erik" last="Reynolds"]

As we saw last year against Carroll, Reynolds has the ability to take a game by the scruff of its neck. That’s why he’s a first-teamer.

F - [player_tooltip player_id="902004" first="Jordan" last="Hawkins"]

Hawkins has improved at a rate as good as just about anyone else on this list over the last 12 months. With a year of WCAC bump under his belt, he should be able to raise his level once again.

F - [player_tooltip player_id="531233" first="Jakai" last="Robinson"]

You can’t argue with Robinson’s consistent level of production since his freshman season. He is a super reliable, versatile player who can fit seamlessly into virtually any team.

F - [player_tooltip player_id="775326" first="Jared" last="Billups"]

Billups has been an absolute rock at McDonough for a number of years now. You know he’s going to bring it every night and that’s why he’s on the first team.

Second Team

G - [player_tooltip player_id="712742" first="Bez" last="Mbeng"]

Mbeng is a fine all-around player who enjoyed a breakout junior campaign. The reigning All WCAC First-Teamer remains one of the best available seniors in the area.

G - [player_tooltip player_id="1049483" first="Brayon" last="Freeman"]

National Christian added a key building block in [player_tooltip player_id="1049483" first="Brayon" last="Freeman"]. The GW commit will be a key contributor on both ends of the floor.

G - [player_tooltip player_id="954213" first="D’Angelo" last="Stines"]

Coach Clatchey has nothing but good things to say about Stines, who is among the most improved players in the MSJ program. ODU is getting a steal in this skilled guard.

F - [player_tooltip player_id="836468" first="Devon" last="Savage"]

Savage emerged as a go-to scorer last season at Riverdale. The sharpshooting wing should find himself among the area’s leading scorers next season.

F - [player_tooltip player_id="712747" first="Julian" last="Reese"]

Reese will once again be a defensive player of the year candidate in the MIAA/BCL. The Maryland commit is still just scratching the surface and should continue to make positive strides in the coming months.

Third Team

G - [player_tooltip player_id="775338" first="Elijah" last="Hawkins"]

What’s one word to describe Hawkins? Winner. He was a no-brainer to make this list.

G - [player_tooltip player_id="902012" first="Kino" last="Lilly Jr."]

Lilly will be must-see TV at Landon this year. He will surely be one of the favorites to lead the area in scoring.

F - [player_tooltip player_id="836491" first="Khyrie" last="Staten"]

Staten’s consistency makes him close to a lock here. He truly broke out last season, becoming a nightly contributor to a winning squad.

F - [player_tooltip player_id="836473" first="James" last="Gross Jr."]

Gross is a forceful presence who does all the unheralded work that every team needs. For that, he earns a spot on the third team.

F - [player_tooltip player_id="836476" first="TJ" last="Gadsden"]

Gadsden’s contributions to his team’s championship last season goes beyond the stats. He learned how to lead not just with words, but actions each time he stepped on the court.
