Let’s Get Ready IV had a handful of freshman that were brave enough to test their skills against battle tested upperclassmen. Below, we will take a look at the freshman phenoms that played at Let’s Get Ready IV.
Baylor Cicalo (5-6, G, Lake Fenton)
Cicalo is a smooth moving guard that never really stands in 1 spot. If I had to guess, I’d bet that he’s a multi sport athlete, judging by his comfort at the event. Cicalo could definitely develop into a high quality perimeter player.
Noah French (6-1, G, Roeper)
I’ve been lucky enough to watch French a couple times recently, and I can say that I’m certainly impressed. He has the strength and game IQ to go head to head with upperclassmen. French has solid ball skills, a quality jumper, and a mature game for his age.
Maguire Guinn (6-4, PF, Romeo)
Guinn could have a very nice future in the game of basketball. He share’s his older brothers soft feet, but is really a different player. He looks comfortable facing the basket and can work from the high post or the paint. It will be interesting to watch his development over the next 4 years.
Daveon Hall (6-1, G, Southfield-Bradford)
Hall is quick, taking off from a stand still with brute force. He has the ability to play on or off the ball, but looks a little more comfortable initiating the offense. Hall looks like an athletic pass first point that can score when his team needs a quick bucket.
Trent Hopkins (5-7, G, Auburn Hills)
There’s a lot to like about this young player. I like the crispness of his pass quite a bit. There’s never really a floater that comes out of his hands. Hopkins has solid footwork and is another player that if I had to guess, I would say that he plays multiple sports.
Daniel Smythe (6-1, G, Orchard Lake St. Mary’s)
What to say about Smythe? He has really exploded this fall, and he deserves every bit of it. He plays an intelligent game that shows an on court maturity that’s beyond his years. Smythe has a really pretty jumper that has consistent 3 point range. He could really develop into a force over the next few years.
