Every team has one or more glue guys that don’t always get the recognition they deserve, but without teammates willing to do the dirty work, the stars don’t shine and the team doesn’t win. Here are some players whose impact went beyond the box score.

Beech

Bradley Wheeler

The Class of 2021 guard wears #3 for Beech. Wheeler is pesky, very light on his feet. His hands are quick. There was not much of a threat that Wheeler was going to score on the Northeast Eagles though.

Northeast

[player_tooltip player_id="983723" first="Jalen" last="Hooks"]

Wears #23 for Northeast. Hooks played solid Tuesday night against Beech High School. What makes Hooks such a fun player to watch and presumably play with is that he knows what he is and what he is not. You won’t find Hooks drifting out to the arc to shoot or handle. He steadily operates around the lane, whether it be on the blocks hunting an offensive rebound, or popping to the elbow for a faceup jumper. He does his job exceptionally and appears to be the kind of teammate that makes good teams great.

Clarksville

Even though Riggs is likely to be the leading scorer most nights for Green Hill High, he is also somehow the glue-guy. Riggs feeds the post like a pro. His height helps, but often Riggs displays patience and wonderful eye contact to convey his intentions. When Green Hill was going good at Clarksville High they were hammering CHS down low. Riggs was the reason the ball found a home on the block. Formerly a big himself, Abner is nearly finished making the transition to the college 2. Right now he is a HS 2 for sure.
