Saturday October 31st I attended Anthony Ray’s 22nd annual Arizona Preps Fall Showcase at Inspire Courts in Gilbert, AZ. They were boys and girls teams from all over the state. Each team played two games and I watched the first half of the all-day schedule.

Here were some of the sleepers that shined when I viewed their teams:

2021

[player_tooltip player_id="1077529" first="Nate" last="Summit"] Bradshaw Mountain (Pictured)

-Summit avg 12 ppg/9 rebs last year and you can see why. He is a strong post player who is a little raw but has the left/right hand hook shot. He has wider shoulders, good length and decent hands to catch passes in traffic. He has an elbow jumper and shoots it almost identically like Bill Cartwright did of the Chicago Bulls. He can pass the ball well out of the double team plus block shots and rebound. A deep sleeper from two hours away.

[player_tooltip player_id="1077530" first="Charles" last="Temple"] Williams Field

-An athletic guard who is very versatile on defense. He can defend the 1-4 and he hustles to block shots, grab rebounds in and out of his area and gets out in the open court with his speed and athleticism. He can hit from mid-range and he likes getting to the rim. A nice glue guy next to [player_tooltip player_id="809707" first="LeRoy" last="Williams"] and [player_tooltip player_id="809692" first="Montez" last="Taylor"].

[player_tooltip player_id="809729" first="Demetrus" last="Johnson II"] San Tan Charter

-A pure PG who will be one of the top players in 2A. He is very shifty and can thread the needle to cutters and drive and kick it out to shooters. He can shoot it with range and has a strong inner confidence to succeed.

Milap Owens PG 5’11 Prescott

-An undersized scoring guard had some big games last year including five 15+ point games and one 27 point outburst vs Estrella Foothills. He is a skilled scoring lead guard that can shoot it from deep plus pull-up from mid-range. He compliments star [player_tooltip player_id="827016" first="Jason" last="Parent"] giving him some scoring punch next to him. Owens is also crafty to get into the lane and he is smart passer.

2022

[player_tooltip player_id="827018" first="Jayson" last="Hunt"] Paradise Honors

-A fast growing 4-man is pushing 6'7. He has good length and his skill is slowly improving. He can shoot it now from elbow and in and his form looks better. He has a live body to grab rebounds out of area and he can rip through preferably with his dominant left hand.

[player_tooltip player_id="934597" first="Ashton" last="Earl"] ALA-QC

-A big man with great size, length and strength. He has wider shoulders and gobbles up rebounds in his area. He can spring up to corral the board and boxes out well. He has a left or right hand hook shot and his defensive presence will help the Patriots as they move up to 4A.

[player_tooltip player_id="1015263" first="Talbot" last="Cummard"] Mesa

-A typical Cummard who loves to play defense. He gets into a stance and has real length and instincts to defend. He can shoot it from the 3pt line and does many little things to win a game.
