The Trinity Academy Raleigh Tigers are set to kick off a new season on Nov. 17 after going 23-5 in 2019-20 and regular season Tri-TAC Champions. With two key players returning and some newcomers in the fold, look for them to make even more noise in 2020-21.

Key Returners

[player_tooltip player_id="931600" first="Tyler" last="Gill"] | 5’11 Point Guard | 2021

Gill returns for Trinity Academy with a much leaner build and a quicker first step as he looks to end his career with a bang. He’s a shifty lead guard due to make waves with more weapons at his disposal on the wing. He’ll be a solid addition at Towson after 2020-21.

[player_tooltip player_id="848082" first="Noah" last="Ross"] | 6’6 Guard/Wing | 2022

Ross is another prospect that returns much more vocal as a leader and deliberate with the ball in his hands. He’s a prospect that can make things happen with or without the ball in his hands at all three levels. He holds offers from Hofstra, Eastern Kentucky, FIU and Elon.

Zach Perry | 6’8 Forward | 2021

Perry is an emerging big man that plays with a ton of energy, especially defending the paint. He’s due for a senior season that should see him play as a solid defensive anchor and presence on the glass.

Carsten Grandy-Richardson | 5’11 Guard | 2021

Grandy-Richardson returns as an underrated defender and shooter on the wing for Trinity Academy. Look for him to play a solid role off the bench as an athletic presence on the floor.

Key Newcomers

[player_tooltip player_id="1014991" first="Kevon" last="Vanderhorst"] | 6’0 Point Guard | 2023

Vanderhorst joins the squad as the team’s proverbial backup point guard but don’t be surprised if he’s featured in the backcourt alongside [player_tooltip player_id="931600" first="Tyler" last="Gill"] by the end of 2020-21. He’s a prospect that can score it on all three levels and has quite the courtvision to go along with it.

[player_tooltip player_id="944974" first="Jakwon" last="Moore"] | 6’5 Forward/Wing | 2022

Moore joins the Trinity Academy rotation after a productive season at Pender in 2019-20 that saw him rebound and score it in bunches around the rim. He’s due to play a big role in the success of the Tigers on both ends.

[player_tooltip player_id="838046" first="Sam" last="Perez"] | 6’7 Forward | 2022

Perez is another addition to the Tigers’ rotation for 2020-21 that can stroke it from deep and rebound in bunches. He’s a prospect that was productive in Middle Creek’s rotation in 2019-20 and a lot of it should carry over in terms of his ability to rebound, make plays for others and shoot it on all three levels.

Tim Robinson | 6’5 Forward | 2022

Robinson is a new addition from Rolesville High School where he posted 2.8 ppg and 2.6 rpg in a reserve role. He’s gotten a lot more active as a rebounder and rim runner in the Trinity Academy lineup. He’ll be a solid reserve in the rotation off the bench for the Tigers.

Trey Barker | 6’2 Guard/Wing | 2022

Barker joins the ranks from Apex Friendship. He’s a versatile presence on the floor at 6-foot-2 that has the strength and size to battle on the interior and defend bigger defenders. Offensively, he’s coming along as a three-level threat.

Zach Sloan | 6’2 Guard | 2022

Sloan saw an injury sideline him in the East Wake rotation after starting off producing 14.3 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 1.8 spg and 1.3 apg in the early going. Now, with recovery on the horizon and a change of scenery, he has an opportunity to carve out a nice role for himself in the backcourt for Trinity Academy.
