Next, let’s take a look at Team 3 and Team 4.
Team 3:
Dylan Carlquist (2022) – John Hersey (IL)
Dylan is a solid lead guard who seemed to do well keeping guys in their roles. He was really aggressive in transition, but he played pass-first in the halfcourt. He shot the ball pretty well on the weekend, and he had no issues finishing over the taller defender. If he grows a couple more inches in the coming years, he will be a top-level player.
Kobe Ottinger Kobe Ottinger 6'5" | PF Lebanon | 2022 IN (2022) – Lebanon (IN)
Kobe is a long, lean wing that seems to continue to improve every day. He moved around very well to create mismatches for the defense, and he made some solid moves inside. He knows how to use his length to his advantage on both ends of the floor, and he had continued to improve his play from the outside. His jumper still needs some improvement, but I expect him to continue to grow going into the high school season.
Devon Woods Devon Woods 5'10" | PG Pike | 2023 State IN (2023) – Pike (IN)
Devon is a smaller guard who showed us that he can really make plays all over the court. He mixed in some floaters with some jumpers, and he seemed to make the majority of them. He is on the smaller side, but he knows how to use his height to still get his shots off and stay aggressive. If he grows a little more in the coming years, he will continue to improve his game all around.
Gabe Gatete (2021) – Penn (IN)
Gabe is a long, lanky big man inside, who knows how to finish around the rim He was aggressive on the glass and used his strength well inside. On the defensive end, he played good help-side defense. He struggled shooting from the outside, but if he improves in that area, he will be very tough to stop.
Team 4:
Drew Gregg Drew Gregg 5'10" | PG Southport | 2023 IN (2023) – Southport (IN)
Drew may not have the size, but he sure knows how to put on a show. He is as unselfish of a player as I have seen, and he always is looking for an open man. He had a couple of flashy passes on the weekend that really stuck out as very impressive plays. We didn’t see much in the scoring aspect, but if he can add taking the ball to the rim into his arsenal, he will become so much tougher to stop.
Myles Stringer (2023) – Fishers (IN)
Myles is a quick point guard with tons of strength. He uses his athleticism to his advantage by taking it to the rim every chance that he got. He is a nifty ball-handler who loves to get out and run in transition where his strength makes him so hard to stop. He knocked down a few jumpers, but that was definitely one area that he can improve on in the years to come.
Clay Richards Clay Richards 6'5" | SF Carmel | 2023 IN (2023) – Carmel (IN)
Clay has continued to grow his skill over the last year. He has enough size and quickness to play either the 2 or 3, and he almost always creates matchup problems. He used his size well to allow him to be aggressive on the glass on both ends. On the outside, he was lights out shooting the ball from both three and the mid-range. Overall, a very good weekend for Clay.
JaQualon Roberts JaQualon Roberts 6'8" | PF Bloomington North | 2023 State IN (2023) – Bloomington North (IN)
JaQualon was named the MVP of the showcase by another Prep Hoops scout for good reason as he put on a show in his three games. He used his size and length to overpower his opponents on both ends of the floor. He shot the ball pretty well and used his athleticism to get to the rim easily throughout the game. He is going to continue to improve, and he will be a player to watch for years to come.
