Zach Steigenberger Zach Steigenberger 6'0" | CG Appleton East | 2022 State WI — 6-foot– Appleton East
Steigenberger has proven to be one of the state’s better three-point shooters. I definitely would not say that the SG is a great scorer off the dribble, but I have noticed a lot of development in his game. He isn’t the type of player to throw up a ton of shots, which is one of his biggest strengths. Steigenberger lets the game come to him. Look for the guard to have a breakout junior year at Appleton East.
Massimo Malterer Massimo Malterer 6'0" | CG Madison East | 2022 State WI — 6-foot — Madison East
Before this event, I had heard of Malterer, but never seen him play. On Sunday, I left thinking that he was one of the better players in the gym. The Madison East shooting guard may be a bit undersized. But what he lacks in size, he makes up for in slashing ability. No defender was able to stop Malterer when he was trying to get to the rim. He just has a knack for getting buckets in the paint.
Jack Jorgensen — 6-foot-2 — DePere
If you give Jorgensen an inch of space, there is a good chance that he is going to try and get a shot up. After watching him play on Sunday, there is no doubt in my mind that Jorgensen is one of the best shooters in the state. Jorgensen probably still needs to show a bit more before college programs start calling, but I do think that there could be a spot for him on a roster at the next level.
Dontrell Bush Dontrell Bush 6'1" | SG Racine Horlick | 2022 WI — 6-foot-3 — Racine Horlick
Bush is a prospect that likely caught the eye of college coaches that were in attendance on Sunday. At 6-foot-3, the shooting guard has good length, which he uses to play tough defense. He can also score the ball well at all three levels. Playing with Wisconsin RAP’s 16U squad this summer, Bush was very impressive. He certainly did enough to continue to raise his stock with his performance at the Top250 Expo.
Josiah Butler Josiah Butler 6'3" | CG Fox Valley Lutheran | 2022 State WI — 6-foot-2 — Fox Valley Lutheran
Because Butler plays at a smaller school in the winter, it can be really hard to gauge what type of player he is. But thankfully, this summer, we all saw Butler dominate the top-level competition on the Prep Hoops Circuit. At the Top 250 Expo, I was super impressed with Butler’s ability to make plays around the rim. He was relentless when he decided that he wanted to score the ball.
Luke Haertle Luke Haertle 6'2" | SG Lake Country Lutheran | 2022 State WI — 6-foot-4 — Lake Country Lutheran
Haertle is not the fastest or strongest prospect in the state, but he is lethal as a scorer when he gets to his spots. The shooting guard has a terrific pull-up jumper and is a strong finisher at the rim. He probably doesn’t have the high upside that some other prospects do in the 2022 class, although I know that there are not many other players that compete like Haertle does. The SG is the type of player that gives his all every time he laces up his sneakers. On Sunday at the Top 250 Expo, this was on display.
Marcus Tomashek Marcus Tomashek 6'3" | SG Ashwaubenon | 2022 State WI — 6-foot-4 — Ashwaubenon
Tomashek made a name for himself this summer on the Prep Hoops Circuit. The 6-foot-4 shooting guard is great at getting to the rim and he can also knock down a shot if he gets open. On Sunday, he proved that he should be mentioned when you talk about top guards in the 2022 class. Because of his versatility, defenders really struggled to slow down Tomashek at the Expo.
