As expected, the class of 2021 was well represented. With the high school season quickly approaching, this was one of the last opportunities for these seniors to make an impression, and many of them did exactly that. Let’s take a look at a few standout 2021 prospects from Sunday:
Bradley Russell | 2021 | 6’1” Shooting Guard | Braswell HS – Russell is a certified sniper from behind the arc. He displayed the ability to shot from the catch and off the dribble while also showing off his range with a couple deep threes. The senior two-guard is effective from mid-range too. It’s hand down man down with this dude. He scores in bunches and can heat up in an instant.
Elijah McBath | 2021 | 6’0” Combo Guard | Denton Ryan HS – I got to see McBath in action at a PrimeTime tournament back in the summer, and he has genuinely fascinated me ever since. He has a compact frame, but possesses incredible quickness. I often use football comparisons in my basketball writing but comparing him to a stocky running back or an athletic front seven player wouldn’t do him justice. His deceptive quickness and ability to shake defenders allows him to get to the basket where he is a crafty and consistent finisher.
Lav Cvetkovic | 2021 | 6’8” Shooting Guard/Small Forward | Spring Creek Academy – This guy has it all. He shoots the ball very well from mid and deep-range, is athletic and explosive in the open court, possesses defensive versatility, and contributes on the glass. Cvetkovic has a special combination of size and skill at 6-feet-8-inches, and that is going to translate at the next level. The SCA senior is a dynamic shot-maker who can hit turnarounds, fadeaways, and a bunch of other difficult shots that others wouldn’t even attempt in their dreams.
Joshua Beall | 2021 | 6’2” Shooting Guard | Cedar Hill HS – Beall showed me that he could shoot the ball and defend a few months back at the Prep Hoops Circuit Southwest Slam. However, I was unaware of his raw athleticism and leaping ability. I’m pretty sure he made the entire gym shake when he punched down a monster windmill dunk in transition. Beyond that, Beall’s three-point shooting is still excellent, and his mid-range game is solid.
Daylen Webb | 2021 | 6’7” Small Forward | Naaman Forest HS – Webb is another player who showed that he can do numerous things on offense. The Naaman Forest forward proved that he can set up teammates and score while playing on the ball, but I like him best when he is slashing and making plays away from the ball. He converts from mid-range off the dribble, evidenced by a few good-looking pull-ups from the baseline. He also uses his tall and lean build to get to the rim and make things happen. The 6-foot-7-inch senior is certainly someone to keep an eye on.
