A couple of weekends ago, PrepHoops Indiana put on our 7th annual Senior Showcase in Fort Wayne, IN. This was a massive event and tons of seniors from 6 different states were able to showoff their talent and skills to over 120 college coaches that watched both in-person and virtually. Over the next few weeks, we are going to breakdown each team and evaluate each player from that team. Today, we look at Team 9.

Team 9:

[player_tooltip player_id="814652" first="Devin" last="Smith"] – 6’1″ PG – Catholic Central MI:

Smith is a slightly taller lead guard that plays pretty fast. Good rebounder and can really push the tempo on the offense. Does not really look like a high end scorer as he only ended up with 5 points in total. Type of guard that is going to help on the defensive side and set up his teammates for buckets. Time will tell what next steps Smith will take with his game.

[player_tooltip player_id="874137" first="Ashton" last="Beaver"] – 6’1″ SG – Lafayette Jefferson IN:

Beaver is a fast combo guard with great court vision. Plays hard and is very active on both ends. Used his jumper a ton more since the last time I saw him and it looked real fluid. Has the ability to play well on the ball but will probably stick off the ball in the long term. High end scorer who finished with 27 points.

[player_tooltip player_id="783150" first="Donovan" last="Barnett"] – 6’5″ SF – Crispus Attucks IN:

Donavan is a taller wing forward that is pretty tough all around. Super athletic and has some underrated passing abilities. Solid defender and has some solid shot blocking skills. He is more of a slasher where he looks to create in the lane and use his physical frame. He finished with 15 points and had a couple 3’s. Overall, Barnett is a well-balanced player with a huge amount of upside.

Noah Harris – 6’6″ SG – Noblesville IN:

Harris is a taller prospect that that has elite athleticism. Kind of player that could really play a few positions, depending on the type of role a team needs as he could play either the guard, wing, and maybe even a stretch 4 spot. However, he is a player that has some natural scoring ability. Solid shooter and can get to the rim pretty easily. Also crashes the boards pretty well. Harris finished with 23 points on the day and with the right opportunity, he could excel at the next level.

[player_tooltip player_id="874153" first="Camden" last="Brown"] – 6’7″ PF – University IN:

Brown is a real long, athletic power forward with a ton of skill. Kind of a "do it all" type forward but is at his best around the basket. However, he does a have a smooth and capable 15ft jumper. Great post defender and can even step out and guard the wing spot if needed. Just a real creative player overall that is going to find crafty ways to score. Finished with 28 points in total and was one of the best prospects at the showcase.

[player_tooltip player_id="969524" first="Jacob" last="Thomas"]– 5’11″ PG – Cowan IN:

Thomas is shorter lead guard that has a good amount quickness to his game. Not going to score a ton of points but is going to be a consistent enough to produce some points. He has a tough mindset and is not afraid to go at the bigger players. Finished with 17 points overall and had one 3-pointer. Looked solid enough and could breakout this season.

Kooper Staley – 6’2″ SG – Bedford North Lawrence IN:

Staley is a taller shooting guard that has a great feel for the game. Real solid at creating his own shot and does well with driving through contact and getting to the line. Sharpshooter that is great both at shooting off the catch and the pull-up from all over. Looked a ton more aggressive on the defensive end and seems to have improved a bit. Finished with 21 points in total with 9 of those points coming from three 3’s. Still needs to work on adding size but Staley had a solid showing on the day.

[player_tooltip player_id="874204" first="Sam" last="Rees"] – 6’4″ SG – Eastern Greene IN:

Rees is a shooting guard that has really grown both physically and as a player. Great 3-point shooter that can light it up from behind the arc. He has a great amount of IQ and sees the floor really well. He is also not afraid to make the necessary hustle plays on defense. Finished with 13 points and ended up with three 3’s. Rees had a very underrated performance at this event. This player can provide a ton of scoring and could really breakout in his senior year.

[player_tooltip player_id="921067" first="Sean" last="Gallery"] – 6’4″ SG – Maine South IL:

Gallery is a tall wing that has some playmaking ability. Strong player and can finish strong through contact. Solid ball handles and can get creative with the ball at times. Looks to be a fairly consistent scorer and finished with 14 total points on the day. Has the body to play at the next level is smart enough to further develop his game.

[player_tooltip player_id="647206" first="Jaylen" last="Carson"] – 6’6″ PF – Crispus Attucks IN:

Carson is a tall, physical post player who can really impact the game on the defensive end. Great shot blocking ability and does a good job protecting the rim. On offense, he is at his best shooting off the catch but can get buckets in the post area. Finished with 18 points and had a couple of 3’s. Big thing for Carson is for him to just stay mentally locked in and bring the energy throughout the whole game. Ton of potential in Carson and should be in for a big senior season.
