DISTRICT HEIGHTS, MD -- The PYBL High School Fall Showcase began on Saturday with a slate full of competitive games. Here is a notebook filled with observations from the action.

It’s no surprise that [player_tooltip player_id="902024" first="Saveon" last="Jackson"] and [player_tooltip player_id="902057" first="Rasheed" last="Dupree"] have won so many games at the high school level. These two are tremendous competitors who set the tone for their respective teams with their aggression on both ends of the court.

2022 guard [player_tooltip player_id="837961" first="Kaden" last="Richardson"] has clearly been putting in work during the offseason. No one could stay in front of the crafty Harlem, NY native who put together a standout performance in the opening game set on court 1.

Ben Hall, a class of 2022 big man from Loudoun Valley, is a new face who impressed. He is definitely a prospect worth monitoring moving forward.

Reservoir’s [player_tooltip player_id="902032" first="Bobby" last="Hill"] continues to fly under the radar. Today he showed the toughness that coaches look for.

[player_tooltip player_id="904658" first="Masai" last="Troutman"] reinforced his credentials as one of the premier athletes in the area regardless of class. He makes difficult plays look routine at times while on the court.

James Quinn is a hidden gem in the local 2021 class out of Tuscarora (MD). He was active on defense, stunting regularly, and staying in a stance. Quinn also made shots and showed that he can manipulate the defense with his eyes when passing the ball.

The improvements in [player_tooltip player_id="962796" first="Nate" last="Pabis"]’s overall game have been steady but noticeable. Today he showed plenty of grit while banging in the paint against bigger opponents, and looked quite fresh afterward despite being forced to log heavy minutes.

[player_tooltip player_id="904642" first="Jared" last="Turner"] just won’t stop growing. The sharpshooting wing, who is pushing 6-foot-7 now, showcased his sneaky-good court vision today.

Centreville’s [player_tooltip player_id="798711" first="Chris" last="Kuzemka"] willed his 5-man team to a hard-fought win with stellar play on both ends of the court. Buy stock now, thank me later.

Tye Thompson and Ariel Goddot are a pair of unsigned seniors from Bishop Ireton who played well today and should be on the radar of more scholarship level programs.

It's still early, but Derik Queen has penciled himself in as the top overall prospect for the class of 2024 in Maryland for now. At 6-foot-6+, he is a dynamic prospect who exhibits tremendous feel to go along with a myriad of skills.
