Offseason Accolades: 2021 Best Rim Protectors

6-8 F [player_tooltip player_id="754299" first="Jordan" last="Brown"] – Team SMASH – Northside-Warner Robins

[player_tooltip player_id="754299" first="Jordan" last="Brown"] holds tons of potential. At 6-foot-8 and capable of running the floor like a gazelle, Brown has made defense his calling card. He wipes away shots at the rim with his elite wingspan. He averaged over 10 blocks per game his junior season and still hasn’t reached his full potential.

6-11 C [player_tooltip player_id="754266" first="Ryan" last="Mutombo"] – Team Forrest – Lovett – Georgetown

While [player_tooltip player_id="754266" first="Ryan" last="Mutombo"] isn’t as athletic as some others on the list, he is as effective at defending the hoop. Mutombo does a great job of blocking shots without swatting down and many times, even jumping. He understands how important his role is as anchor of the defense and he takes pride in limiting easy baskets inside.

6-5 F [player_tooltip player_id="869594" first="Omarion" last="Smith"] – Aim High – Douglas County<img class="size-thumbnail wp-image-1049900 alignright" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2020/09/IMG_6685-150x150.jpg" alt="[player_tooltip player_id="869594" first="Omarion" last="Smith"]" width="150" height="150" />

The best shot blocker in Georgia by far is [player_tooltip player_id="869594" first="Omarion" last="Smith"]. Pound-for-pound, nobody is better than the undersized forward. He’s averaged over 5 blocks per game his entire career with his uncanny timing, athleticism and length. Smith is one of the most underrecruited players in the state based on his production and elite skill.

6-10 PF [player_tooltip player_id="806745" first="Isaiah" last="Nelson-Ododa"] – AC Georgia – Winder-Barrow

It’s hard to score on [player_tooltip player_id="806745" first="Isaiah" last="Nelson-Ododa"] with his size alone. Add in the fact that he moves well and can track down shots from the weakside and it makes things even more difficult. Nelson-Ododa is still filling out his body. As he gets stronger, the easier it will be for him to defend one-on-one and block shots at the next level. Isaiah has terrific upside and his best basketball is still ahead of him.

6-7 PF [player_tooltip player_id="754282" first="Devin" last="McGlockton"] – GA Select All-Stars – South Forsyth

Great instincts in the paint give McGlockton a major advantage. He’s turned into a terrific shot blocker over the course of his career. He’s got the physical strength but also the length to deny opponents at the rim. McGlockton is a well-rounded player that performs on both ends of the ball. He is going to make a Mid-Major program very happy.

6-6 F [player_tooltip player_id="754271" first="Jatarion" last="Warren"] – North Atlanta Orangemen – Tift County

Quick and springy, [player_tooltip player_id="754271" first="Jatarion" last="Warren"] is a very good athlete that gets off the ground in a hurry. Warren is a threat for chase down blocks and is always in plays defensively. Coming from Tift County, he knows the importance of the little things and his attention to detail on defense is impressive.
