There will inevitably be players who are missed in any ranking process. But with every update of a class list, new players are included as they establish themselves and get ‘seen’ around the state.

Five new players cracked the ranks of the Kansas 2021 Player Rankings as combo guard, while one was identified as a 2021 grad, having been listed in the 2020 class.

62 [player_tooltip player_id="946176" first="Carter" last="Reid"], Carroll:

Reid was not an unknown to Prep Hoops. He was so well respected, he was a highly rated player in the 2020 class after being misidentified. Reid will be back at Carroll for another season, bringing his high octane athleticism and versatility. Reid is strong, quick, jumps well and loves an aggressive, up tempo style. He can shoot, penetrate and score, but he’s also a great a complementary piece.

94 [player_tooltip player_id="1072881" first="Jayce" last="Korf"], Hugoton:

The far-west Kansas star earned honorable mention 3A last year. The 6-foot-3 Korf can shoot it from deep, can play in the lane, and is a smooth glider in the open court. Don’t sleep on his athleticism.

104 [player_tooltip player_id="1072883" first="Devan" last="McEwen"], Lebo:

One of the very best dual-sport athletes around. McEwen is a solid 6-foot-2 off guard when he’s not one of the top quarterbacks in the small-school ranks. His athleticism leads him to score a lot of points, but he is also a good and defender. He earned second team 1A a year ago.

107 [player_tooltip player_id="1070194" first="Jahi" last="Peppers"], Highland Park:

Peppers earned honorable mention 5A last year. He is one of the quickest players around, and can run all day. He is a master at slicing into the lane and getting to the goal, and he drives opponents crazy with his speed down the court.

148 [player_tooltip player_id="1073376" first="Jalen" last="Smith"], Topeka High:

Smith was a complement to super seniors at Topeka High last year, but he wasn’t always in their shadows. He had some big scoring outings himself. At 6-foot-2, Smith has good physical size to go with his strength and quickness. He will be counted on a lot more as a senior.

156 [player_tooltip player_id="1072897" first="Taiden" last="Hawkinson"], Buhler:

Hawkinson showed playing with the ultra-talented Pray N Play that he can be a tough and capable complementary piece. He can shoot, use his strength in the lane and work opponents over on the glass or on defense.
