<p><strong>The Prep Hoops Top 250 Expo was held at MSA Fieldhouse in Grand Rapids yesterday. This was an outstanding event and the talent in the building was off of the charts. I will be evaluating every player that was from the Metro Detroit area through myself watching games and also looking at games a second time on BallerTV. Everyone showed up big time and the sky is the limit for you.</strong></p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="969521" first="Rory" last="Montreuil"]</strong> (2021, 6-7, Utica)</p> <p><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2020/10/142_Rory-MontreuilPrepHoops-2.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-1061915" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2020/10/142_Rory-MontreuilPrepHoops-2-300x300.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="300" /></a></p> <p>I enjoyed watching this young man. He is a team player. I watched him play solid man defense. He helped on defense, he rebounded, he contested shots, he set solid picks and rolled hard, he throws a nice outlet pass, and most of all he competes. I’m looking for some great things his senior season and college career.</p> <p><strong>Darion Johnson</strong> (2024, 6-8, River Rouge)</p> <p><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2020/10/149_Darion-JohnsonPrepHoops-2.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-1061921" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2020/10/149_Darion-JohnsonPrepHoops-2-300x300.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="300" /></a></p> <p>The Metro Detroit basketball community is going to see the development of Johnson for the next floor years. What impresses me is how aggressive he is despite being younger. He is not a passive player. He wants to be in the middle of the action. He wants the ball to touch his hands. Basketball IQ is terrific. He hits the glass, sets good picks and rolls hard with a desire to receive a pass and finish. Big upside here.</p> <p><strong>Mason Kazem</strong> (2022, 6-0, Taylor)</p> <p><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2020/10/172_Mason-KazemPrepHoops-2.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-1061938" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2020/10/172_Mason-KazemPrepHoops-2-300x300.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="300" /></a></p> <p>Kazem is a prospect on the rise. He is skilled and every time he touches the ball something good happens. He is constantly in motion and has the ability to play the one and the two. I look for this talented combo guard to have an excellent season.</p> <p><strong>Jonah Gabriel</strong> (2021, 6-0, Utica)</p> <p><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2020/10/175_Jonah-GabrielPrepHoops-2.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-1061940" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2020/10/175_Jonah-GabrielPrepHoops-2-300x300.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="300" /></a></p> <p>The Expo was the perfect place for Gabriel to showcase his skills and get some spotlight. He is a solid basketball player who is ready to contribute his senior season. I look forward to seeing him get better and better.</p> <p><strong>James Weaver</strong> (2024, 5-11, River Rouge)</p> <p><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2020/10/186_James-WeaverPrepHoops-2.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-1061949" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2020/10/186_James-WeaverPrepHoops-2-300x300.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="300" /></a></p> <p>Weaver is the truth and I am expecting big things out of this 2024 prospect. He lives in the gym and it showed in his play at the Expo. He has very good body control. He can hit the open shot, he can get to the rim. He will push the ball and he gets out and runs hard on the break. I like the fact that he plays aggressive defense. He is primed to add his name to the long list of River Rouge greats.</p> <p><strong>Matthew Stone </strong>(2022, 5-11, Rochester)</p> <p><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2020/10/191_Matthew-StonePrepHoops-2.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-1061952" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2020/10/191_Matthew-StonePrepHoops-2-300x300.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="300" /></a></p> <p>College coaches take notice. Matthew Stone can play basketball. This fundamentally sound player can run the point and he can shoot the ball. He also has an uncanny ability to get to the basket and finish. This floor general plays under control. I’m predicting an excellent senior season.</p> <p><strong>Rafael Murrey ll</strong> (2021, 5-9, Walled Lake Central)</p> <p><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2020/10/199_Rafael-Murry-IIPrepHoops.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-1061957" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2020/10/199_Rafael-Murry-IIPrepHoops-300x200.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="200" /></a></p> <p>Murrey is a super quick point guard who showed his ability to run a team at the Expo. He can break down a defender with his dribble and attack the rim or dribble drive and dish. He is very good at pushing the ball. What impressed me is his ability to dictate the pace of the game. He is going to have an excellent season. College coaches needs to zero in on this talented young man.</p> <p><strong>Jalen Mosley </strong>(2024, 5-11, St. Clair Shores Southlake)</p> <p><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2020/10/193_Jalen-MosleyPrepHoops-2.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-1061953" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2020/10/193_Jalen-MosleyPrepHoops-2-300x300.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="300" /></a></p> <p>Very talented 2024 prospect who is only going to get better. He showed his upside at the Expo. He is a student of the game and it shows on the court. He works hard on his craft and it shows on the court. When he grows and gets stronger he is going to be a problem for opposing teams. Definitely a point guard with college potential.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>
