High Ceiling 2022 Illinois Prospects

<p>One of the common terms used in scouting circles whether it is for the college level or NBA is the “high ceiling prospect.”  These are players that aren’t quite where they need to be now, but you can see a lot of intriguing tools which could make them more interesting options than another prospect.  Their best basketball could very well be ahead of them because of various circumstances.  Here we look at a few of the highest ceiling 2022 prospects in the state outside of the top 10.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1048713" first="Kamryn" last="Thomas"] (Hillcrest)</strong></p> <p>Thomas is a fast rising prospect that has a lot of helium heading into his junior campaign.  Long and rangy combo forward that has a feathery jump shot and is explosive finishing around the hoop.  Defensively he can be a game changer once he locks in on that end.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="863593" first="Danny" last="Wolf"] (Lake Forest Academy)</strong></p> <p>Wolf is a face up four that has a high ceiling with his combination of skill, athleticism, and now size.  Grew to 6’10” over the summer and is primed for a big junior season.  Floor spacers at that size are rare at the college level.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="863585" first="Xavier" last="Amos"] (Whitney Young)</strong></p> <p>Amos is very intriguing because he is known, but unknown at the same time.  The Whitney Young broad shouldered and athletic four man has been a highly ranked prospect since early in his career, but he has yet to show it at the varsity level.  We think he will showcase his versatile game this season.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="863590" first="Sulaimon" last="Agiste"] (Michelle Clark)</strong></p> <p>Agiste is a long and lean center that is a presence on the defensive end of the court with his rim protecting ability.  Flashes offensively and can get stronger which will make him even more impactful.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="863586" first="Caleb" last="Burton"] (O’Fallon)</strong></p> <p>Burton is a silky smooth point guard from the metro east that is oozing potential.  We feel he hasn’t played his best basketball yet.  Can weave through the defense and pass it.  Once his jumper gets consistent he is ready to go!</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="999560" first="Christian" last="Jones"] (East St. Louis)</strong></p> <p>Jones is a rangy two guard who played last season at Granite City.  Making the move over to East St. Louis for his junior campaign Jones is a two guard that is wired to score and brings upside to become an all-around player.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="925199" first="Jamil" last="Wilson"] (De La Salle)</strong></p> <p>Bouncy four man that shined with his second jump this summer with RISE on the circuit.  We believe this upcoming season he could breakout with his rebounding, shot blocking, and rim running.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="771553" first="Lance" last="Rodgers"] (Simeon)</strong></p> <p>Rodgers is a big man that hasn’t got much experience on the varsity level, but we have seen him in various settings shine with his athleticism, strength, and rebounding.  Defensive presence inside and can switch as well.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="925225" first="Ethan" last="Marlowe"] (St. Charles North)</strong></p> <p>Marlowe has the physical tools you look for in a power forward.  Broad shoulders, long arms, and a skilled offensive game.  Fluid running the floor and can take his man off the bounce from the high-post.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1048716" first="Famious" last="French"] (Bloomington)</strong></p> <p>Jumbo wing with plus athleticism and the potential to be an impact performer on both ends of the floor.  Could be one of the breakout players from central Illinois this season.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="996061" first="Tavarius" last="Vinson"] (Dyett)</strong></p> <p>One of the mystery prospects in this class.  Very few have seen him live, but the grainy highlight film from his sophomore year put him on the radar of colleges.  The 7’0” big man is very raw, but flashes defensively and finishing around the hoop.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1048717" first="Marcus" last="Overstreet"] (Whitney Young)</strong></p> <p>Overstreet jumped off the floor when we saw him this summer playing up on the Illinois Jaguars 17U squad.  Mobile five man rim runs, blocks shots, and had some impressive offensive moves.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1048718" first="Fawaz" last="Sukurat"] (Sullivan)</strong></p> <p>Sukurat is a CPS post to track.  He brings athleticism, strength, and rebounding to the table.  The offensive skills showed in spurts, but we believe there is more in the bag.</p>
