One of the common terms used in scouting circles whether it is for the college level or NBA is the “high ceiling prospect”. These are players that aren’t quite where they need to be now, but you can see a lot of intriguing tools which could make them more interesting options than another prospect. Their best basketball could very well be ahead of them because of various circumstances. Here we look at a few of the highest ceiling 2021 prospects in the state outside of the top 10.

[player_tooltip player_id="652731" first="Ola" last="Ajiboye"] (Evanston)

Ajiboye is an upside prospect with his best hoops ahead of him. Long and lanky power forward that can stretch the floor with his shooting and protect the rim. His offensive game around the hoop continues to improve and once adds strength his game could really flourish.

[player_tooltip player_id="995969" first="Bennie" last="Slater"] (Springfield)

Slater is a point-forward prospect that hasn’t been seen much on the travel team circuit and wasn’t really well known even last high school season. Has some intriguing tools with his size and passing feel. Versatility to play multiple positions.

[player_tooltip player_id="920965" first="Jaylen" last="Bryson"] (Champaign Centennial)

Bryson is a long and lanky post that runs the floor, protects the rim, and flashes offensive potential. He has a lot of the athletic and physical tools that project well to the college level.

[player_tooltip player_id="821774" first="Noah" last="Franklin"] (Cobden)

Franklin like Slater is a point-forward that dishes the rock with a ton of flair. He hasn’t played the toughest competition during his high school career, but many college coaches are salivating at the upside he presents as a prospect with his shot making and play making combination!

[player_tooltip player_id="920969" first="Kevin" last="Bozeman"] (Downers Grove North)

Bozeman fits the profile of the new age power forward. Athletic forward that has bounce around the hoop and can stretch the floor with his shooting. Can switch defensively on to multiple positions. Has started to add strength which will help him against strong four men.

[player_tooltip player_id="920986" first="Sincere" last="Malone"] (Corliss)

Malone is another power forward with a high ceiling. He showcased a ton of tools in bag this summer on the Prep Hoops Circuit. Size for position with tremendous mobility and athleticism in the front court. Can handle it taking it off the glass and going. Shoots it at a decent clip and is a sound defender in the paint.

[player_tooltip player_id="821783" first="Phillip" last="Holmes"] (Simeon)

Holmes is one of the prospects we are most interested in seeing this upcoming season. He has a lot of the physical tools you look for in a D1 center. Good size, strength, and length. Holmes has flashed offensively with a nice move in the post every now and then, but has never quite put it all together.

[player_tooltip player_id="1049507" first="Tyrese" last="Shannon"] (Orr)

The younger brother of former Orr standout Tujautae Williams this combo forward has projectability just like Williams. Long and lanky frame that started to emerge late in his high school career. We expect Shannon to have a breakout senior campaign!

[player_tooltip player_id="995974" first="Tyvin" last="Garrison"] (Springfield)

Garrison is a rangy and thin power forward that has been a force defensively throughout his career swatting shots and being able to switch all over the floor. His ability to knock down shots from beyond the arc peaked our interest in his emerging offensive game.

[player_tooltip player_id="1049509" first="Nick" last="Spannaus"] (Decatur MacArthur)

Spannaus was an unknown coming into the summer. He emerged with a strong showing for Illinois Hoopstars. Projectable combo forward that was active on the glass and proved to be an impact defender. Offensively he would hit a three every now and then teasing you with his upside.
