Class 1A – Region 4 Preview

<p>Can Scott’s Branch HS make a return trip to the Class 1A State Championship Game again this year ? Who are the best players in this region ? Could they be Underclassmen ? Read more inside right here on your source for basketball coverage in the Palmetto State.</p> <p><em><strong>Predictions:</strong> </em></p> <p><strong>Scott’s Branch HS (Summerton) </strong>The Eagles lost to Great Falls HS in the Class 1A State Championship Game last year. Do the Eagles have a enough fire power to return to Columbia this season ? </p> <p><strong>CE Murray HS (Greeleyville) - </strong>Can this scrappy War Eagles make some noise this season ? </p> <p><strong>Carvers Bay HS </strong>- No longer the Baby Bears after getting some varsity experience under their belts last season. Head Coach Jeff Mezzatesta will have his squad ready for region play after dropping down to Class 1A.</p> <p><strong>East Clarendon HS (Turbeville) </strong>- The Wolverines lost several players to graduation and Head Coach Seneca Barron will have to find some players to step up to the table. </p> <p><strong>Hemingway HS - </strong>Can the Tigers get back on top of the Region ? </p> <p><em><strong>Players to Watch in the Region: </strong></em></p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="927555" first="Petrie" last="Izzard"] (2021) - CE Murray HS </strong></p> <p>Izzard is a undersized shooting guard with a very quick shot release. Izzard has deep range shooting ability and really likes to set up shop in the right corner. </p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="927574" first="Notorius" last="Grant"] (2021) - CE Murray HS </strong></p> <p>Grant is having a big football season for the War Eagles as a running back. Grant a stocky guard uses the ball screen very well and turns the corner. Young a left-handed will one of the leaders on this Bears roster this season. Coard finishes in transition very well especially on contact. Coard does a lot of work going to the glass while finishing with his left-hand on a regular basis. Gibson a left-handed guard brings toughness and effort to the floor at all times. Gibson will sacrifice his body if its taking a charge or diving on the floor for a loose ball. Evans and Gibson both members of the 2023 Class are the Prep Hoops Region Players of the Year. Evans a big guard is confident for his young age and play the game inside-out on the floor. Evans will look to have a breakout season for the War Eagles this season. </p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="922018" first="Tony" last="Bell"] (2023) - Carvers Bay HS </strong></p> <p>Bell is a pesky defender on the ball.
