Bryce Hopkins to Kentucky
The state’s #2 senior prospect has made his decision. Fenwick 2021 combo forward Bryce Hopkins Bryce Hopkins 6'7" | PF Fenwick | 2021 State #32 Nation IL committed to play at Kentucky on Monday night.
Hopkins had previously given a verbal to Louisville before his junior year, but decommitted from the Cardinals after their NCAA investigation. Upon opening his recruitment it seemed like the Wildcats were the team to beat even before they officially offered. Several other programs were seriously in the mix including Indiana, Illinois, and Providence. In the end though the nation’s #33 recruit decided he wanted to be a part of Big Blue Nation.
So what is Kentucky getting? Hopkins is the ideal new age four man. With his size, strength, and skill level he can be such a versatile mismatch at not only the high school level, but in college. Handles it well and has range out to beyond the arc. He can overpower opponents with his raw strength getting downhill off the bounce and posting up wings. Very good rebounder and overall is a very cerebral basketball player.
He will head into the season as one of, if not the top contender for Mr. Basketball in the state of Illinois. His Fenwick squad will also be a major contender in the Chicago Catholic League as Hopkins is surrounded with shooters on the perimeter which he will make better and vice versa.
With this commitment 12 of the top 13 prospects are now off the board in the 2021 Prep Hoops Illinois Rankings with only Niles Notre Dame’s Anthony Sayles Anthony Sayles 6'2" | PG Niles Notre Dame | 2021 State #167 Nation IL remaining uncommitted.
Stay locked on PHI as signing day approaches in mid-November for the latest on the recruitment of prospects in the class of 2021!
