The 2022 prospect class here in South Florida is very good. I have documented in the past that I believe it is the best class in terms of talent. With moving parts due to Covid-19, my case has become a bit more fluid. For example, 6-foot-7 power forward [player_tooltip player_id="814905" first="Malik" last="Reneau"] transferred from Mater Academy Charter to Montverde. Furthermore, Jett Howard moved from University School to IMG Academy.

Those are two big losses if you enjoy watching basketball here in South Florida. However, the Thompson twins are still over at Pine Crest, [player_tooltip player_id="814895" first="Gregg" last="Glenn"] is at Calvary Christian, and [player_tooltip player_id="712107" first="Taylor" last="Hendricks"] has joined him.

Moving off the top tier, this class still has an insane amount of talent. I would like to highlight some players outside the top 100 who I believe you should keep an eye on.

[player_tooltip player_id="956773" first="Warner" last="Davis"] - Miami Palmetto (PH 116)

Davis should provide an instant boost for the Panthers after transferring over from Killian. Miami Palmetto went 14-11 last season before falling to Braddock in the district championship. Davis is a 6-foot combo guard with ability to score at all points on the floor. Last season at Killian, Davis averaged 14.7 points per game and knocked down 43 recorded 3-pointers. Moreover, Davis connected on three or more trifectas in eight games. Against Brito, Davis tied his season-high with 29 points on 10-of-12 from the field. The Panthers have a solid addition with Davis in the lineup.

[player_tooltip player_id="955773" first="Derrick" last="Lovett"] - Blanche Ely (PH 138)

Lovett appears to be the main guy with the loss of [player_tooltip player_id="955774" first="Kolby" last="King"] to Pembroke Pines Charter. The 6-foot-5 Tiger can slide in as a small or power forward, depending on the match-up. Lovett averaged 10.5 points and 7.1 rebounds per game on 61% shooting from the field. In a win over Nova, Lovett scored a season-high 23 points and grabbed 15 rebounds on 11-of-13 from the field. Specifically, his efficiency and size makes him a reliable interior playmaker.

[player_tooltip player_id="956800" first="Jonathan" last="Levy"] - Katz Yeshiva (PH 406)

The graduation of 2020 Noah Mamann should open up some opportunities for other players on Katz Yeshiva to step-up. One of those individuals could be 6-foot-2 [player_tooltip player_id="956800" first="Jonathan" last="Levy"]. Last season, Levy averaged 11.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per game. Against Divine Savior Academy, Levy scored a season-high 23 points on 8-of-16 from the field. That effort was one of 11 double-figure outings for him on the season. I like his versatility as he can play guard or forward in certain match-ups.

[player_tooltip player_id="956824" first="Henry" last="Peterson"] - Suncoast (PH 386)

Over in Riviera Beach, Peterson is worthy of a look on a team looking to replace 2020 Samuel Rolle. The 6-foot-5 small forward averaged 9.4 points and 2.2 rebounds as a sophomore. Against Atlantic, Peterson nearly tripled his season average with 27 points on 9-of-11 from the field. In that contest, Peterson displayed his ability to stretch the floor with six 3-pointers made. It could be a sign of things to come for Peterson who will have an increased role this season.

[player_tooltip player_id="1065485" first="Octavius" last="Williams"] II (Octavious) - Forest Hill ( PH 284)

Williams II is in a good spot to improve his game at Forest Hill. The Falcons went 28-3 before falling to Seminole in the Class 7A state semifinals. In addition, Forest Hill returns outstanding prospects in 2021 [player_tooltip player_id="818698" first="Donovan" last="Draper"] and Jalen Jeter to work against in practice. Beyond that, the Falcons do lose three key seniors that averaged over 10.0 points per game. This could give room for a player like Williams II to step-up into a greater role. Williams is a 6-foot-3 combo guard with good athleticism. At a minimum, Williams did get some burn last season and should have an idea of what it takes to be a productive player at this level.

[player_tooltip player_id="955810" first="Rafael" last="Miranda"] - Miami Beach (PH 256)

Miranda gets on this list because I love his size as a combo guard. When you are 6-foot-3 you are guying to have an edge over a lot of players you face. Against North Miami Beach, Miranda scored 14 points on 7-for-10 shooting from the field. I am willing to roll the dice that his shooting touch is accurate based off his length. Miranda will look to improve on the Tides 9-14 record last season.

[player_tooltip player_id="955811" first="Jordan" last="Urbaez"] - Hialeah Gardens (PH 179)

Urbaez is another kid you must pencil in due to his size at his position. The 6-foot-6 power forward averaged 8.6 points across 15 games last season for the Gladiators. With his length already cemented, Urbaez has room to get stronger and be more of a factor around the low block. Who knows, he might still be growing. Urbaez had a pair of 17-point outings against Dr. Krop and iMater Charter. The flashes of potential are certainty there.
