August 29th I attended Team Cezer’s Hoops We Did it Again tournament. The tournament had 5th grade up to 17U.

I watched 5 games from classes from 2021 to 2025.

Here were some of the standouts I viewed on the day:

2021

[player_tooltip player_id="1012740" first="Reama" last="Brownlee"] Phhoenix Prep (AZ Select Ali)

-A transfer by way of Westview HS is long and athletic. I haven’t seen him in a while and he is an intriguing prospect. He takes long strides to get to the basket and can euro his way and score with impressive body control. He can defend multiple positions, runs the floor well and is an above the rim athlete.

[player_tooltip player_id="1041371" first="JJ" last="McCain"] Phhoenix Prep (AZ Select Ali)

-Another transfer from Westview HS is very hard to stop getting in the lane. He has a thick and strong upper body with a nice handle. He uses those gifts to touch the paint and score through contact or uses the floater well. He is a physical defender on the ball.

[player_tooltip player_id="958984" first="Jake" last="Hahn"] Desert Mountain (AZ Select Ali)

-A natural scorer is a sharp shooter from the perimeter. He can use the floater and is a sneaky good passer. He is best off the catch from the 3pt line and he should be vital for the Wolves success this season with his shooting.

2022

[player_tooltip player_id="827020" first="Trey" last="Phillips"] Brophy Prep (AZ Legends 17) (Pictured)

-A fluid athlete handles the ball surprisingly well for his size. He is light on his toes and can cover a lot of ground defending multiple positions. He can comfortably make the elbow jumper and make the 3. He uses his tight handle and long strides to get into the paint and then can jump stop and explode up or use the pro hop better than most. He is a good passer and is becoming a big-time shot blocker.

[player_tooltip player_id="973813" first="Jayson" last="Petty"] Centennial (AZ Select 16 Deakyne)

-A long wing with upside. He can shoot it from deep with good ball rotation plus is very good in transition finishing off layups and can play above the rim. He uses his length to defend multiple positions from the 1-4 and he is a very good rebounder for his size plus he is willing to take a charge. He can improve his handle in tight spaces but gives high effort in each outing.

2023

[player_tooltip player_id="814036" first="Roosevelt" last="Washington"] Mountain Pointe (AZ Select 15 UAA Rise)

-One of the top underclassman backed it up this weekend. He not only scored it but defended nearly every position. He has strong hands and a sturdy frame to collect steals plus bang inside with bigger players. Offensively he can hit the 3, drive the lane and euro his way, power up and dunk it or pull-up off the dribble from mid-range. His motor is relentless and he keeps coming at you.

[player_tooltip player_id="814039" first="Mark" last="Brown Jr"] Mountain Pointe (AZ Select 15 UAA Rise)

-A scoring point guard is strong and powerful. The ball is clearly on a string for him and he has a nasty crossover he utilizes often. He is a good passer, probably better than he gets credited for, and is a natural scorer from all three levels. His pull-up is very hard to defend and once he puts his foot down and gets to the rim, its a bucket or he gets fouled.

[player_tooltip player_id="814508" first="Andrew" last="Camacho"] Peoria (AZ Select 15 UAA Rise)

-The high IQ and tough guard has some serious shooting range. He is fearless on both sides of the court and willing to lay his body on the line in every game. From taking charges, making the correct pass and hitting clutch shots, he brings a lot to the table.
