GASO Fort Worth Labor Day 2023 Standouts

<p>This is my in-depth coverage of the recent GASO tournaments going on in Fort Worth this Labor Day weekend. These players had a great first day of competition and should only get better from here. Keep an eye out for the rest of my coverage from this event, and for these athletes to have a dominant upcoming season.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="787318" first="Dean" last="Balo"] 6’2 2023 (Pearce Mustangs)</p> <p>Dean is an athletic wing with great potential. He drives hard into the lane and creates very well for his teammates. He always seems to have his head up to make the right read. You cannot sag off him, he is a good shooter off the catch and spaces the floor very well from the corner. I was extremely impressed with his ability to control the tempo and create for others, sometimes he got out ahead of himself and tried to do too much. He needs to learn how to pick his spots, pick his angles on his driving lanes.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Peyton Gusters 6’4 2023 (Shhhhh… Just Got Better) MacArthur High School</p> <p>Peyton is an athletic wing who drives hard to the cup. If you do not have a strong interior force down low to slow him down, he will score twenty plus on you in the paint with ease. He thrives in the full court, especially after collecting a defensive rebound and beating the opposing team down the court. He does not mind interior contact and loves to finish with his strong hand. I would like to see more development with his left hand to become a more balanced scoring option. I would also like to see him work on his pull up jumper, in the midrange, and behind the arc.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Anden Holmes 6’7 2023 (3D Empire 2023) Eaton High School</p> <p>Anden is a long and lanky forward with unlimited potential. He reads the game well and can pick off passes and take them coast to coast. His long arms and quick feet make him a force on the defensive end, rejecting shots and forcing opponents to change their shots and layups. He is so intelligent at using in his spacing and waiting in the corner to affect the game. He reads the help defender and cuts or stays out to punish you from behind the arc depending on what you do. I would like to see continued development with his off-hand, ball control, and speeding up his release on his jump shot.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Tripp Phillips 6’5 2023 (3D Empire 2023) Lipan High School</p> <p>Tripp is an athletic wing who thrives at putting the ball on the floor and getting to the rim. He is a deadly shooter off the catch and has a sweet one-dribble pull up. He showed experience side-stepping defenders as they close out hard. He has played against older competition all summer long and should make an elite leap this upcoming season. He has all the tools to be an insanely effective player at the next level with his long arms, ability to score and shoot from deep.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="787340" first="Carson" last="Jach"] 6’4 2023 (3D Empire 2023) Colleyville Heritage High School</p> <p>Carson is a quick-footed combo guard with a great ability to stroke the ball from deep and finish in the lane. He showed no fear of getting to the rim, diving without the ball and finishing through or around bigs. He showed great body control and a soft touch on his floaters and runners in the lane. I would like to see continued development with his off-hand and work on getting his head up for his teammates as he draws so much attention.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>
