The class of 2021 newest rankings dropped this week. Here is a look at some of the prospects who made the largest leaps from the end of last basketball season until now.

No. 9 - Carter Domingue Carter Domingue Carter Domingue 6'3" | PG St. Thomas More | 2021 State LA (St. Thomas More)

Domingue has played lead guard on two of the best teams in Louisiana (St. Thomas More & LivOn Fleur-de-lis) and his improvement shows.  He has become a better facilitator on the floor and one of the state’s top two-way players.  Because he has become more of a complete guard, his rise to the top 10 (from the low teens) is warranted.  Hometown UL-Lafayette has shown interest their interest in Domingue.  I will not be surprised to see mid and low majors follow suit.

No. 10 - Claudell Harris Claudell Harris 6'3" | CG Hahnville | 2021 State LA (Hahnville)

The Hahnville guard is part of a back court that helped the Fighting Tigers reach Marsh Madness last season in 5A.  Harris then took that moment and had a productive grassroots season.  Playing with New Orleans Elite and a couple of other squads saw Harris put up big numbers and take big shots in key, down-the-stretch situations.  Charleston Southern thought so much of the 6’3" guard’s ability that they got him to commit.  The Bucs definitely got a quality player in Claudell Harris Claudell Harris 6'3" | CG Hahnville | 2021 State LA .

No. 11 - JonQuarius McGhee JonQuarius McGhee 6'3" | CG Opelousas | 2021 State LA (Opelousas)

McGhee might not have been ranked prior to this latest ranking.  However, the game of the Opelousas guard had already made an impression with writers in and around Opelousas.  A grassroots run with Louisiana Elite further cemented that the 6’3" guard was one to take seriously.  McGhee has a quick first step and a maturing upper body that allows him to create havoc in the lane and finish above the rim.  Nicholls State have added a true, hard-nosed guard with McGhee’s commitment.

No. 20 - Kendrick Delahoussaye Kendrick Delahoussaye 6'0" | PG Lafayette | 2021 State LA (Lafayette)

Delahoussaye had proven prior to the grassroots season that he was one of the better point guards in Louisiana leading Lafayette to a share of the district title and being named all-state honorable mention.  His play in Jackson, however, confirmed that he is a point guard that can play with top players and enhance their performance.  Delahoussaye does not get rattled easily and makes smart plays.  JUCOs have already shown him interest in the 6’ guard.  I am sure others will soon.

No. 25 - Christopher Flippin Christopher Flippin 6'7" | PF East Jefferson | 2021 State LA (East Jefferson)

Flippin is another prep who successfully used the grassroots platform to display that he is a name that recruiters should know.  Playing against other big men ranked ahead of him ( Will Allen Will Allen 6'7" | PF Bonnabel | 2021 State LA and Rollin Belton Rollin Belton Rollin Belton 6'7" | PF Ruston | 2021 State LA ), the 6’7" Flippin showed what tenacity and hustle can do.  He was able to bang with those two as well as other bigs and hold his own in the paint.  While his offensive game is still a little raw, his work on the boards did not go unnoticed.  Flippin may have suitors galore as the season goes.

No. 28 - Gage Larvadain Gage Larvadain 5'9" | PG Riverside | 2021 State LA (Riverside)

Larvadain may be the Riverside quarterback.  However, he is also a very good lead guard who can stroke it.  Larvadain was rated lower last season mostly due to his size (5’10").  Once he gets on the floor, his quickness and shooting ability negate any height advantage the opposition may have.  During the grassroots season, he has been even better.  Larvadain is lethal in a 5-out, dribble drive setting as the shooter or the driver.  He would be a great addition to a school that plays this way.

No. 52 - Parker McNees Parker McNees 6'2" | SG Notre Dame - Crowley | 2021 State LA (Notre Dame-Crowley)

The former North Vermilion guard will be taking his game to Notre Dame-Crowley this season.  By the estimation of one JUCO coach, the 6’2" guard can make an impact on the next level.  McNees shoots it well and is more athletic than one would think at first glance.  He also moves well without the ball and creates disruption with his cuts.  He is a shooter who is always on balance and the way he shoots the ball alone will help his stock rise.  NcNees may be top 30 (or higher) by season’s end.
