Gerry Freitas had an impressive collection of team and individual talent on hand at the Inspire Courts in Arizona for his End of Summer Showcase. The collection of teams from the West Coast included a number of familiar faces in new jerseys, including Compton Magic standout [player_tooltip player_id="747080" first="Malik" last="Thomas"]
, who participated with Oxnard-based Team Build Up.

Washington Supreme was the story of the event, as they dominated EYBL program Vegas Elite en route to a 4-0 showcase record.

In this report, we talk about some of the shooters who impressed us over the weekend that was.

John Christofilis, 6-4 2021 SG, Washington Supreme

A brawny guard with a quick, compact release, Christofilis doesn’t need much space to get his shot off. He does an excellent job sprinting to spots on the perimeter and running his defender off screens to create separation for buckets. But Christofilis scores effectively off the bounce, making him more than just a spot-up shooter.

[player_tooltip player_id="747104" first="Keatten" last="Smith"],6-3 2021 SG, Gamepoint 17u Elite

When Smith’s feet are set, he is almost automatic from deep. He, like other shooters on the list, does a great job using screens to curl and flare into open spots, and his release mechanics are picture perfect. Smith also impressed with his defensive effort throughout the weekend.

[player_tooltip player_id="951229" first="Donovan" last="Cox"], 6-2 2021 G, Gamepoint 17u Supreme

Cox is a crafty ball handler and and scorer off the dribble and off the catch. Capable of manning the point and playing off the ball, Cox showed craftiness off the dribble to open up scoring opportunities in the midrange and with the floater. But his bread and butter is his shooting from deep.

[player_tooltip player_id="809697" first="Isaiah" last="Freeney"], 6-2 2021 G, Team Zona 17u

In the games I watched, Freeney’s three-point shots barely touched the rim, and he hit them both off the dribble and (quickly) off the catch. A crafty scoring point guard who has gotten stronger and bouncier each time I’ve seen him over the course of the past six years.

Rickie "Pop Pop" Isaacs, 6-2 2022 G, Vegas Elite EYBL

Isaacs is truly one of the elite shooters in his class nationally. A point guard who can score and facilitate with equal aplomb, Isaacs put on a tremendous shooting display on Saturday night, hitting five straight threes from well beyond the NBA three line.
