We will take a look at some of the recruitment frenzy going on right now, taking a look at some 2022 and 2023 guys that have received offers in the month of July.
Keyontae Lewis Keyontae Lewis 6'7" | PF LC Bird | 2022 State VA | 6’8” C | LC Bird 2022
New Offers: Bryant, Shaw (D2 NC)
Lewis is one of a number of guys at Bird I fully expect to have a breakout year if we play basketball this winter. He’s a massive kid that is still growing and getting himself into shape, but he brings a level of physicality in the paint that’s tough to match up with, and he’s a guy who can step out and shoot and also makes good decisions when double teamed. He picked up a few offers from Bryant and D2 Shaw, and when he gets out in front of more coaches and shows how he’s improved he will see more and more offers come in.
Aubriel Winfield | 6’7”F | LC Bird 2022
New Offers: Bryant
When it comes to hidden gems in the Richmond area, Winfield is among the best players that most people haven’t heard about and he’s only going to get better and better at the rate he’s already improving. He’s a natural athlete who can play way above the rim and rebound with the best of them, but he’s improved immensely on his perimeter skill set and has improved as a shooter and a guy who can work out of the triple threat and get to the rim. He’ll be a guy who will turn tons of heads moving forward.
George Beal George Beal 6'4" | SF Kings Fork | 2022 State VA | 6’5” WF | King’s Fork 2022
New Offers: Clayton State (D2 GA), Shaw (D2 NC)
Beal is among a very talented 2022 class in the 757 area and adds two top tier division two programs as his first offers, but it shouldn’t be long before division ones start to come around and check him out. At 6’5”, Beal has a ton of tools that show he should continue to get better and better including a great frame, good athleticism and a high motor on both ends.
Spencer Hamilton | 6’9” C | Parry McCleur 2022
New Offers: ODU
Hamilton is a gem in the western part of VA that is starting to get some attention after a good sophomore season at McCleur where he grew to 6’9” and did a little bit of everything for them this season. His size alone is impressive and garners attention, but his skill set at his size is what has division one coaches calling and allowed him to pick up his first offer from ODU. Hamilton is an inside-out guy that can protect the rim and rebound, he can shoot the three ball when set, he runs the floor and
Dennis Parker Dennis Parker 6'6" | SF John Marshall | 2023 State #89 Nation VA Jr. | 6’6” F | John Marshall 2023
New Offers: NC State
Parker Jr. is a guy who would have blown up on the national scene if he got to play this summer, but there’s no need to rush that because it will come and he’s already seeing high major programs recruiting him. The 6’6” wing has a chance to be special as he can initiate the offense, he has a great frame and athleticism for his age and his skill set includes the ability to make shots from multiple levels and create for himself and others off the bounce. Thrown in the fact that he can rebound and defend, thinks the game well and still has room to get better, he will have his pick of schools when it’s all said and done/
Carter Lang Carter Lang 6'9" | C St. Anne's Belfield | 2023 State #199 Nation VA | 6’8” PF/C | STAB 2023
New Offers: ODU
Lang picked up his first offer from ODU and with the way he played as a freshman this past season I can say confidently that it’s only the tip of the iceberg for him. The 6’8” Charlottesville native was one of the top freshmen in VA and showed major improvements from his eighth grade year where he was a starter to last year. He’s a guy who should get more mobile with time but he already runs the floor and plays hard, he’s a monster on the glass and he shows good touch out to 18 feet. He has plenty of room to get better and should be a breakout guy in the state here soon.
Wesley Williams Wesley Williams 6'0" | CG Fairfax Christian | 2024 VA | 6’0” PG | Independence 2023
New Offers: Duquesne
Williams was quietly one of the best freshmen PGs in the state at the newly formed Independence and he’s already catching the attention of college coaches as he picked up his first offer from Duquesne this month. He’s a guy who has a great base skill set, he understands and thinks the game well beyond his years and he’s a dual threat guy that can make others better and score it from multiple levels too. He’ll be a name to remember here moving forward.
