Over the next two days we name the NHR 17U All State Team. In what was a more complicated 17u year, we are honoring 50 players over the next several days before unveiling our full 17 and Under All State Team.

There are some things you must know before we start honoring the players:

Some teams played 3 or 4 events, some teams played in 6 or 7. I tried to weigh that into these choices

There are guys like [player_tooltip player_id="774734" first="Reid" last="Patterson"] who played part of the year and deserved a spot but only so high

Keep in mind some big names - [player_tooltip player_id="532574" first="Chet" last="Holmgren"], [player_tooltip player_id="850703" first="Camden" last="Heide"], [player_tooltip player_id="850702" first="Prince" last="Aligbe"], [player_tooltip player_id="680229" first="Hercy" last="Miller"], [player_tooltip player_id="774733" first="Bryce" last="Lance"], more - that didn’t play at all, or played only a single weekend. So this year we are missing some stars

Without a lot of consistency based on the current situation I had a very hard time leaving kids that should be honored off lists.

Here is our first group of all state players, starting with the honorable mention names:

NHR All State - 6th Team

[player_tooltip player_id="774806" first="Zach" last="Spann"] of Minnesota Select (2021). A 6-foot-6 with improved skills, ore consistency, and is one of the top five most explosive athletes in the class.

[player_tooltip player_id="774748" first="Broden" last="Lien"] of D1 Minnesota (2021). Made the best of his 5-6 shots a game for his team giving the squad a consistent open facing the rim or at the rim.

Chris Morgan of Grassroots Sizzle (2022). In the two events we saw Chris play with the Sizzle he was a dynamic playmaker scoring in double digits and leading in assists.

[player_tooltip player_id="774734" first="Reid" last="Patterson"] of Minnesota Select (2021). Before Reid got hurt he was having a fantastic summer. Was surely one of the best players in Minnesota during July.

[player_tooltip player_id="774897" first="Griffin" last="Rushin"] of Minnesota Matrix (2021). One of the top new names of the summer, the 6-foot-7 true wing has the skills and size to earn scholarships.

NHR All State - 7th Team

[player_tooltip player_id="774810" first="Spencer" last="Swanson"] of WOTN (2021). Swanson is about to be one of the top MIAC prospects and have a big year for Waconia. Such a feel at 6’5/6’6 in the paint.

[player_tooltip player_id="774753" first="Colton" last="Roderick"] of Minnesota Comets (2021). Continues to become an all around scorer, he was really good at Shakopee the few times we were able to see the Comets.

[player_tooltip player_id="774760" first="Zach" last="Longueville"] of Minnesota Crossfire (2021). Not only a shooter, but a shooter that’s improved off the dribble and as a playmaker. A consistent threat for a Crossfire team that was excellent.

[player_tooltip player_id="836689" first="Jalen" last="Cook"] of Gain Elite (2021). Cook may have been the most consistent player we saw from Gain Elite week to week.

[player_tooltip player_id="567064" first="Spencer" last="Goetz"] of Minnesota Fury (2021). Easily one of the most dependable players that the Fury had all summer at the forward position.

NHR All State - 8th Team

[player_tooltip player_id="774873" first="Cole" last="Tiran"] of D1 Minnesota Prospects (2021). Handled several roles for his team playing PG, scorer, defender, and leader. Helped the Prospects be much better than expected.

[player_tooltip player_id="957133" first="Sam" last="Privet"] of Playmakers North (2021). Playmakers North had two top ten level teams in Minnesota, not just one, two. And Sam was an inside-out threat for his team.

[player_tooltip player_id="774769" first="Addison" last="Metcalf"] of WOTN (2021). Metcalf was the number one scoring option for WOTN this year improving his consistency behind the arc.

[player_tooltip player_id="774764" first="Jace" last="Bigelow"] of MN Select Robinson (2021). Select Robinson had a go to scoring wing and he showed the state of Minnesota he was up for the leading man role.

Jack Wetzel of Gain Elite (2021). Wetzel teamed with Cook and made for a wing duo that teams had a terrible team closing out to.

NHR All State - 9th Team

[caption id="attachment_1036699" align="alignright" width="150"] [player_tooltip player_id="957618" first="Mo" last="Hammadelniel"][/caption]

[player_tooltip player_id="957618" first="Mo" last="Hammadelniel"] of D1 Minnesota Prospects (2021). Mo showed the ability to be a main scoring option at the 17u level.

[player_tooltip player_id="957131" first="Cal" last="Greene"] of Minnesota Fury (2021). Greene flashed the potential as an athlete and improving skilled player to be an NSIC guy.

[player_tooltip player_id="774858" first="Shane" last="Stevenson"] of Minnesota Rise (2021). One of the best shooting touches amongst bigs in the state.

[player_tooltip player_id="567090" first="Reid" last="Johnson"] of Minnesota Lightning (2021). Few brought the three-point shooting the way the Chatfield slinger did. Reid is a 40% Club member.

[player_tooltip player_id="721869" first="Amir" last="Whitlock"] of Gain Elite (2021). The ball handler, scoring combo guard that helped Gain Elite consistently win 3 of 4/5 games every weekend.

NHR All State - 10th Team

[player_tooltip player_id="774896" first="Connor" last="Chappell"] of Minnesota Crossfire (2021). A double-double paint big from Orono that helped Crossfire push to be a top five/six area team in 17u this year.

Jordan Boltz from Minnesota Lockdown (2021). The leading scorer for a Lockdown team that played in a couple title games.

[player_tooltip player_id="957130" first="Isaiah" last="Davis"] of Grassroots Sizzle (2021). The active scoring wing/forward for the Sizzle that averaged nearly a dozen a game.

[player_tooltip player_id="958648" first="Hassan" last="Kamara"] of Howard Pulley (2022). Hassan’s impact as a defender, hard working active guard was extremely impressive. Few played as hard.

[player_tooltip player_id="957156" first="Austin" last="Klug"] of Minnesota Lightning (2021). One of three different Caledonia players that made the top 50 17U honored players from the summer.
